"When is the elec- tion?" he asked. "Before the end of June," said the MPP, who coyly smiled as she promptly responded. "The way things are lining up, I feel that we are looking at going to the polls before sum- mer," she added after the meeting. Thompson is seeing the signs, including the ramping up of Ontario Liberal Party candidate nominations throughout the province. According to Thomp- son, Ontarians are ask- ing for change now and her colleagues in the Progressive Conservative party are ready to act. "On their behalf, we're ready to go," Thompson said. "It all depends whether the stars align and the third party (the NDP) has confidence to pull the string. But, on the other side of the coin, we're hearing the premier herself may decide to take us to the polls." Regardless of when the writ drops, Thomp- son said her party is ready to go. If her prediction is cor- rect, the election cam- paign could conceivably begin by Victoria Day, with a new government Lisa Thompson speaks in elected in advance of Walkerton. Canada Day.. Submitted
