Village Pizzeria Celebrates First Anniversary
Valerie Gillies
Editor/Lucknow Sentinel
On July 15, 2013, Tracy Skillen opened her
business, Village Pizzeria, on the corner of
Bruce Road #1 and Highway #86 in Lucknow.
Celebrations began on July 15, 2014.
Skillen is originally from Brampton, but has
been in Lucknow for 10 years. She was for-
merly a Personal Service Worker (PSW) but
had to give up that career due to health con-
cerns. What to do next was answered when
the opportunity presented itself to purchase
the pizzeria.
The corner pizza restaurant now run as Vil-
lage Pizzeria had changed hands 6 times over
10 years. Skilien's daughter, Kayla, was work-
ing for the former owner and informed her
mother that the business was coming up for
sale. Skillen purchased the business as a turn-
key operation.
Skillen has added her personal touch to the
restaurant. "We have made changes to the
recipes and to how some things are done."
There have also been employees added to the
2 original staff who were retained. Currently
there are about 14 employees. When asked
how Skillen would describe her first year she
replied, "It's been very good. I can't
complain."
A second location has been opened in Point
Clarke. Both locations are under the same
business name, but are referred to as Village
Pizzeria on the corner for the Lucknow loca-
tion with the second being Village Pizzeria by
the lighthouse.
To celebrate the anniversary, Village Pizze-
ria held a Flip the Flap pizza box contest. The
contest, itself, is now over. Winners are
reminded that they have until the end of
August to claim their prizes.
