Obituaries
ASHTON, Eileen - died July 16, 2014 at
Wingham Hospital at the age of 96. She is
predeceased by her beloved husbands:
Stewart Lavis (1964), and Lloyd Ashton
(1986). Eileen was born in Lucknow,
Ontario on March 25, 1918 to the late Clara
Gates and James Johnstone. She loved
gardening, especially growing gladiolas.
Eileen was a fixture at Ashton's Clothing on
Lucknow's main street and was a life-long
member of St. Peter's Anglican Church.
Dear step -mother of Beverley Thompson of
Lucknow and Fraser (Catherine) Ashton of
Quebec. Missed by her 5 grandchildren and
6 great-grandchildren. Special aunt to many
nieces and nephews and great-nieces and
nephews. Predeceased by her brothers
Melvin, Harold and Clare. Visitation was
held at MacKENZIE & McCREATH
FUNERAL HOME, Lucknow on July 18,
2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The Funeral
Service was conducted at St. Peter's
Anglican Church, Lucknow on Saturday
July 19, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Rev. Karine
Snowdon officiated. Interment in Greenhill
Cemetery. Donations to the Nine Mile Villa
Memorial Fund or Wounded Warriors were
appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
