Art and Barb Helm of Lucknow
have a grandson who just loves
the Titanic. In fact, Rhyan was so
interested in the ship that his
grandfather built him one.
Rhyan's great grandfather, Wil-
liam Hill Sr., was a welder and
blacksmith who worked under
contract from South Dundalk,
Ireland. He travelled to Belfast to
help build the original Titanic.
While travelling last year, the
Helms bought a miniature from
the museum dedicated to the
Titanic in Florida. Barb described
the museum as "amazing. It is a
must go place." With the aid of
this miniature and many, many
pictures to get the details right,
Art worked to build the model.
Most of the work was done this
spring and it is reported by Barb
that it took "many rainy days to
build."
Rhyan visited his grandparents
on July 11, 2014 and was pre-
sented with the ship his
grandfather had built. Rhyan was
excited and began calling for his
mother to come see it right away.
His reaction was "just like Christ-
mas" according to all who wit-
nessed it.
Rhyan's Titanic includes
removable life boats, working
lights and many other interactive
details. Rhyan supplied the Lego
crew. How many 9 -year-old boys
can say they have their very own
custom-built Titanic? Well,
thanks to a patient and skillfull
grandfather, now there is one!

CHIP AND A PUTT
Bruce Skinn
The Wingham Golf and Curling
Club had a very busy past week high-
lighted by a record breaking men's
night and the 43 smiling faces who
took part in the kids junior golf clinic.
The first full week of July was a very
gratifying week at the Wingham Golf
course as the volunteers stepped up
to the plate to help run a very suc-
cessful golf camp. The 43 children
shared many laughs, with several
making new friends, while learning to
play the game of golf and proper golf
etiquette.
Saturday July 12th was also all
about the kids as the dining lounge
played host to the Lions club
exchange program. The 14 teenagers
from 14 different countries along with
the camp instructors and Lion's club
members enjoyed a breakfast brunch
before heading off to the Wiarton area
camp grounds for a couple weeks of
learning and fun.
Friday the club played host to the
annual birthday bash for the Atwood
boys Doug Rathwell and Bill Quipp.
The 30 golfers played 9 holes of golf
before lunch in the golfers lounge fol-
lowed by the back nine before joining
their better halves in the dining
lounge for a steak supper.
In regular league play the ladies
have concluded that Mother Nature is
male as the Tuesday ladies day was
again for the most part a washout.
On Wednesday, July 9 the senior
men had 25 golfers on a great morn-
ing for golf. Bill Stephenson took
home first place money with Ross
Peacock second and Glenn McMi-
chael third. Peacock was the closest
to the pin winner with Ed Huffman
sinking the longest putt. Steve Nixon
had a superb round of even par 35 to
post low net.
Thursday men's night had a record
92 golfers on a terrific golf night. Don
Edgar led the way with a even par 35
followed closely by Jay Marston's
36.The closest to the pin winners were
Shaun Jolliffe, Steve Nixon and Ray
Walker while Bill Johnston, Doug
Reinhardt, Trevor Hopf and Curtis
Collinson took home longest putt
awards. The hidden score winners
were Bill McGrath, Grant Currie, Eric
Deyell, Lloyd Erb and Bruce Skillen.
