Legion Meet

Athletes representing
their Legion in their home
communities of Blyth,
Wingham/ Teeswater,
Lucknow, Howick, and
Brussels competed at the
District C Legion meet
held at Jacob Hespler S.S.
In Cambridge. Thirty five
local athletes won 12 gold
medals, 17 silver medals,
11 bronze medals and
eighteen 4th -6th place
ribbons.
Seven of the thirty five
local youth earned a qual-
ifying spot on the District
C team that competed at
the provincial champion-
ships in Bramalea. The
local provincial qualifiers
were Ben Newell
(throws), Karissa Schies-
tel (throws), Franklin
Marshall (distance run-
ning), Sydney Wightman
(throws), Jasmine Vader
(throws), Justin McKague
(jumps) and Billy Darrell
(jumps).
Each year the Legions
of local communities
throughout Canada gen-
erously sponsor, organize,
and run track and field
meets providing opportu-
nities for youth to
compete.
