Hair and Beyond
By Reba Jefferson
On Thursday, July 3 at 6:45pm
the members of Wawanosh
4 -H's Girls Night Out club met
at Hair and Beyond in Wing -
ham for their second meeting.
Kate Higgins, president, opened
the meeting with the pledge
then led roll call which asked
members how they usually
wear their hair. Most members
answered with up in a ponytail.
Reba Jefferson then read the
minutes from the last meeting.
Next, Mary Ellen Foran
introduced Tinie, the owner of
Hair and Beyond. Tinie gave
members a quick tour of her
salon then plugged in the
straighteners and curlers so
members could get to work.
Members tried curling,
straightening, braiding and
more in each other's hair.
Throughout the meeting, the
club asked questions which
were answered by Tinie who
has a lot of knowledge and
experience from her career as
a hairdresser. After everyone
in the club had a chance to get
their hair done by another
member or Tinie, the group
posed for some photos. Kate
Higgins then thanked Tinie for
allowing us to take over her
salon and for her useful hair
and make-up tips.
The meeting was closed with
the motto and members are
reminded that the next meeting
will be held on Friday, July 11 at
6:45 at the Wingham Knights of
Columbus Centre.

Exciting Activities Coming to the Red Tent
Red Tent Lucknow
Linda Johnston
Facilitator/Red Tent Lucknow
The Red Tent Gathering was
held June 26, 2014 at Grass-
roots Rural Retreat. The theme
for this month was "Nurturing
your Spirit". The sign for this
new moon is Cancer encourag-
ing us to focus on self nurtur-
ing, harmonizing our home
and family relationships,
developing patience and com-
passion. We need to remember
that our attitudes are chosen
and life will be better for all of
us once we are aware of our
behaviours and reactions
when interacting with others.
Vicky and Linda explained
about Chakras (energy centres
in the body) and the power of
Reiki treatments to assist in
clearing energy blockages to
"soothe the soul". A demon-
stration was done to show how
the blockages or interruptions
can be detected.
The next gathering will be
held July 24. The theme will be
Playing. We have a facilitator
coming from Bayfield to con-
duct a Drumming circle.
Drums and Instruments will be
supplied for everyone to par-
ticipate. We plan to be outside
if the weather is good. It should
be fun. RSVP please to ljohn-
