Busy Time
for Everyone
Again I plan to keep this column
short as there are so many things that
need to be included in this issue.
It has been a busy couple of months
in the area. So much happening, so lit-
tle time and space to prepare and
report.
Featured in this edition of the Luc -
know Sentinel are the graduates of the
various schools. It is an honour and a
privilege to be able to publish the
achievements of the youth of the area.
However, this is not the only type of
information supplied by and of the
next generation. Many 4-H clubs are
very active in the area. Sports teams
are participating in practices and
competing.
Many local activities and festivities
are being promoted and enjoyed.
Some would fall in the event category,
while others would be more gather-
ings of like-minded people.
A lot has been happening in the
political and economic planning
domains. Although the schools are no
longer in session, it does not follow
that the running of the vital commit-
tees and services are on hold.
I would like to thank those who have
been submitting their articles, letters,
reports and photos for publication in
the Lucknow Sentinel. I encourage
those who have human interest,
achievements, news and information
to submit their contributions for the
community. If you feel that you have
topics of interest that are not appear-
ing I would be happy to discuss future
column possibilities. If you wish to
have Sentinel staff cover your story,
please give advanced notice to
arrange or confirm availability for this
service.
Please keep articles brief as it is the
goal of this newspaper to include as
many varied opinions and informa-
tional pieces as possible to satisfy our
diverse readership interests.
Thank you, again, to those who have
helped to make this publication into a
voice for the community.

One of lucknow's citizens
reaches 100
By Ruth Dobrensky
Congratulations to Catherine
Andrew who recently turned 100 years
old. There was a come and go at her
home for her and many locals were
out to congratulate her. We wish you
many more Catherine.
There doesn't seem to be a lot going
on in town these days except the con-
struction at the east end of town
which of course has to be done but is
an inconvenience to many around.
The worst part is that not only is traffic
disrupted, cable and telephone ser-
vice has been disrupted as well.
While driving home from Wingham
a few days ago, I confronted a huge
wild turkey on the road, he seemed to
be ready to defy me and my vehicle
but I guess he realized he was a lot
smaller than my car and walked sulk-
ily off the road. I did keep a wary eye
on him however. Ever since I saw that
PBS special about that American sci-
entist who raised wild turkeys (My Life
as a Turkey), I've had a great deal
more respect for the bird and I hope
he lives a good long life.

Valerie Gillies
Editor/Lucknow Sentinel
In the article printed in the June 25,
2014 issue of the Sentinel about the Living
Library hosted by Lucknow Central Public
School, it was reported that one of the
guest books was not able to attend.
It has been clarified that the person was
there, but that he was moved to a separate
classroom in order to share videos with-
out disturbing other presenters.
This "book" was raised in Kincardine
and became a serious sports athlete,
including competitive hockey. He
attended Laurentian University, is cur-
rently the father of 2 young children and
works for Bruce Power as a Control Room
Operator.
Most certainly this was a valuable addi-
tion to the Living Library.
Planning an event? Don't forget to advertise!
