Lots of Memories Being Made
It is pretty obvious that this
edition of the Lucicnow Sen-
tinel celebrates the memo-
ries being made this Christmas
season. I would like to person-
ally thank the volunteers who
took the photos at the events
this past Fridaywith Joan Nel-
son and Sara Bender stepping
up to cover the Lucknow Santa
Parade and Pat Livingston cov-
ering Soundsations. The help is
most certainly appreciated.
On that note, I would like to
express appreciation to those
who have been sending in
photos, articles and news tips
throughout the year. Some
have been repeat contribu-
tors, while others have been
one-time sources. Either way,
it is this type of commitment
and effort that makes the Luc -
know Sentinel the community
newspaper that it is.
Among the memories
recorded in this edition are
the many sports moments in
the various levels of hockey,
as well as crokinole and bowl-
ing. One of the highlights at
Ripley -Huron Community
School recently was the visit
from members of the Owen
Sound Attack team.
Brookside Public School is
preparing for their Christmas
production, as well as planting
bulbs in their Peace Garden to
enjoy in the future.
We are reminded that there
are those who are struggling
this Christmas, as well as
through the rest of the year. The
Huron Food Action Network is
working towards long-term
solutions to help with this need.
In Bruce County, the Public
Library is again giving credit
toward overdue fines with the
donation of food items for the
food banks in the area. The Luc -
know Firefighters assisted the
Girl Guides in collecting food
donations during the parade.
The Huron County Christmas
Valerie Gillies
Bureau received a boost this
year from K2 Wind as one of the
contributors. All of these dona-
tions will certainly help to make
much happier memories for so
many families over this Christ-
mas season.
Gary Austin shared his mem-
ories of his career in the Public
Works Department Although it
will mean a big change when
he retires, he will still be active
in the community. Watch for
him cruising in his "Vette".
Like most, I am looking for-
ward to making some memo-
ries this Christmas, as well, as
my first in Lucknow. I am fortu-
nate that it appears that all 5 of
my kids will most likely be able
to gather at my home for our
annual celebration and gift
exchange. As they get older and
have created lives of their own it
is not often that we can all get
together under one roof at the
same time. This year they will be
coming from Kincardine, Ham-
ilton, Walkerton, Ayton and my
daughter gets Christmas leave
from her new teaching position
in Northern Ontario. It has been
a very eventful year for us with
lots to talk about and share.
One of my fond memories of
past Christmas seasons was
sketching in black ink both for
pleasure and for printing pro-
jects. Although I do not consider
myself as a professional artist, I
am sharing one of my favourites
of a village Christmas tree.
As the holiday creeps closer,
the staff at the Lucknow Senti-
nel wishes you and yours a very
Merry Christmas and a happy
and healthy New Year. We look
forward to you sharing your
memories, stories, photos and
images with our readers.

Well tonight is the presen-
tation of Carolfest here in
Lucknow at Lucknow Pres-
byterian Church, 7:45 p.m.
The show is always a won-
derful one with presenta-
tions from local church
choirs singing old and new
Christmas carols. Get out
and get into the Christmas
Spirit and join in on a few
songs.
Last Friday night a very
special couple came to town
along with a bunch of elves,
reindeers and helpers. There
were lots of great floats to
see and the Girl Guides col-
lected food for the foodbank
during the parade. Great
parade everyone.
You can also help the Sal-
vation Army out this Christ-
mas with a donation to the
Sentinel's Mitten Tree, drop
by the Sentinel office with
some mittens or hats or
scarves.
It's great to see that HAWK
Theatre is presenting their
annual Christmas play this
coming weekend at our local
theatre. It will be I'm sure a
great production once again.
Last week our little family
(Diane, Tony and I) travelled
over to Meaford to meet up
with sister and her husband
(Linda and Marc) for lunch
after which we went to visit
our aunt Romelda Douglas.
We were surprised to find
Nellie's son Arlo also there
which allowed us to catch
up with him as well. The day
turned out to be a fairly
good one for driving espe-
cially after those couple of
horrendous days of snow
that deluged us and buried
Buffalo.
Last week there was an
unusual contest held with
potatoes at the Lucknow
Central Public School.
Equally unusual were the
winning potatoes created by
teachers at the school. I
didn't know we had such
talented teachers in our
school, congratulations to
all the students and teachers
on their great efforts.
Sympathy of the commu-
nity to the families of: Rob-
ert Richardson, 87, Kincar-
dine; John Schoen, 62,
Lucknow; Peter VanDiepen-
beek, 61, Ashfield Twp.;
Kathryn McKague, 53, RR 3,
Walkerton; and, Harry
Albright, 74, RR 1,
Elmwood.

Kozak are parents of baby
girl Lyla on Tuesday last

Kylie Pike twins arrived on
Wednesday- Kieran and

more babies to spoil!
The Bazaar at RVilla was a
great time to admire and
purchase handmade and
craft items! A great way to
start on Christmas gifts.
Happy 75th Birthday to
Joan Gillespie! Family and
friends wished her well at
the social at the Kincardine
United Church Saturday
afternoon.
Also happy retirement to
Ida Piel after 30 years oper-
ating IC Greenhouses on the
6th Concession. Saturday a
party hosted by staff mem-
bers and customer appreci-
ation day was well attended
and a chance to get some
new items for the Christmas
season.
Lots of Santa Claus
parades happening this
weekend. Lucknow hosted
theirs on Saturday evening
and Sunday the Ripley busi-
nesses hosted their Christ-
mas in the Park. Folks
enjoyed the parade, chili,
hotdogs and hot chocolate
and the children, of course,
putting in their requests
with Santa. Thanks too to
the Ripley Lions for their
help in the evening.
Sympathy is extended to
the family of Ross Lockwood
of Ripley who passed away
last week.
Don't forget our Dec 3rd
WI meeting at Marilyn
Reid's. at 1:30 pm. Roll Call
is a gift for child for the
Xmas hampers.
