A fairy tale ending at the Seaforth Public School
Shaun Gregory
Huron Expositor
It was a fable -like begin-
ning and ending as hun-
dreds packed in the gymna-
sium for Seaforth Public
School's Fairy Tale Frenzy
Concert December 15.
The Broadway -type per-
formance put on by students
ranging from kindergarten
age students to Grade 5 and
had the people in attend-
ance in awe. Followed by
laughs and numerous pic-
tures taken by the crowd it
was a night the students had
started to prepare on
Remembrance Day.
"During music class we
worked through it, rehearsed
and always had some kind of
actions to help us remember
the lyrics," stated Heather
Dawe, who is the school's
musical teacher.
"They practiced, practiced
and they focused. "
Dawe is fairly accustomed
to the melody of songs see-
ing as she has her bachelors
in music; this memorized
recital is something she
said the students should be
proud of. The event wel-
comed 400-500 spectators
with the concert playing
twice, once at noon and
later that day at 7 p.m. The
two separate times were
meant for family members
who had to work or had
prior arrangements. With
an all -day affair Dawe said
the place was "packed"
from the ground up to the
rafters. The event did not
follow the usual protocol of
a typical fictional story line.
"They were fractured fairy
tales, so they weren't the tra-
ditional fairy tales that eve-
rybody would know. They all
had a bit of a twist to them,"
Dawe said.
Being the conductor,
Dawe would direct the stu-
dents with hand movements
and facial expressions

concert. And when the time
came to sing she played
the piano.
"I love to see all the kids
get their own chance to
shine on the stage, it's not an
experience they get to have
very often," she said. "To be

and to watch their confi-
