of crimes
The 39 -year-old from
Cambridge was detained
after Wingham Police Ser-
vice implemented a search
warrant a couple weeks ago.
Upon being apprehended,
numerous offenses followed
varying from break and
enter, and several thefts.
He is also facing imper-
sonation charges after suc-
cessfully strolling into banks
pretending to be the posses-
sor of the credit cards. A
large number of those
crimes accumulate from
when the culprit allegedly
tried to take money out and
the request was denied. The
man well known to authori-
ties commenced a crime
spree on Main Street in Sea -
forth during the month of
October. The thief took elec-
tronics and cash, but the
most lucrative find was iden-
tification, which police said
he obtained in wallets or
purses. Huron County and
the surrounding area have
been on edge, with every
neighbouring town seem-
ingly falling victim to the
backdoor bandit.

wrongdoings, Seaforth, Strat-
ford, Mitchell, Cambridge
and Kitchener all felt the
impact of this thievery. And
the Huron OPP stated this job
was not just a one-man oper-
ation, it also involved a
female accomplice.
"It's not unheard of, crimi-
nals find somebody that's
going to help them out,
whether it's a male or
female, they take advantage
of that and work together,"
said Huron County OPP
media relations officer
Const. Jamie Stanley.
"We do occasionally get
these offenses where people
(go) on a string, (stealing) a
bunch of credit cards and
they go on a spree."
The police are not certain
of the relationship between
the two. At this present time
the female partner in crime
has not been charged, but as
the investigation continues
Stanley anticipates charges
will be laid against her. This
case may be solved with
names to attach to the illegal
misfortunes, however this
has left business owners and
the people of Seaforth feel-
ing "violated," said John

need, the timing couldn't
have been worse," com-
mented Hunt in the back of
the sub shop. "Financially it
hurt, it cost me a lot more
than I thought it would, I'm
just starting to get my iden-
tity back."
Although this ordeal came
with losses, as soon as the
arrest was made the OPP
contacted Hunt to inform
him the stealing extrava-
ganza was put to an end. The
business entrepreneur said
he was instantly "relieved"
after hearing the news. Even
though the man at large has
been arrested, money -wise
the dilemma for Hunt is just
beginning as he tries to get
things back to what they
once were.
"You have your deductable
through your insurance, but
you're liable for your pin
number and personal
accounts. Some of it won't be
covered, I'm fighting that
now," Hunt told the Expositor.
In the course of a research
investigation led by the
Expositor, the alleged bandit,
as reported by the Rich-
mond, B.C. publication
known as the Review, stated
he had been charged in
1999, where he was sen-
tenced to five months in jail.
As a result, he also received a
two-year period of probation
for attempting to commit or
being an accessory to the
commission of an indictable
offence. The Cambridge
native is currently in custody
and expected to attend a
court hearing at a later date.
