passed away in Shallow Lake,
on October 18. He was in his
80th year.
Ordained in 1919, he served
in Shallow Lake, Redveis (Hal-
ton), Bryanstown, Benmiller,
Ashfield, Lambton and McKil-
lop. He retired in 1953. He
was a veteran of the First
World War.

MRS. W. S. FARQUHARSON
A funeral service for Mrs.
William Samuel Farquharson
was held Friday afternoon at
the G. A. Whitney funeral
home, Seaforth, with Rev. P.
Reid, of St. George's Presbyter-
ian Church, London, officiating.
Mrs. Farquharson, the former
Ella Isobel Love, was born in
Grey Township, and resided in
London following the death of
her husband in 1949. Burial
was made in Brussels cemetery.

MRS. JENNIE THORNTON
Mrs. Jennie Thornton, widow
of Martin Thornton, died Mon-
day in London at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. John P.
(Elizabeth) Ellacott, in her 81st
year.
Mrs. Thornton was born in
the Seaforth area, a daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. James
Ritchie. She lived in Brussels
for several years before mov-
ing to London, to live with her
daughter.
She is survived by her daugh-
ter, Mrs. Ellacott; five sons:
George, Brussels; Thomas, Clif-
ford, and Louis, of London, and
Cecil, RR 5, Stratford; one sis-
ter, Mrs. Alec (Florence) Rus-
sell, Brussels; a brother, Louis
Storey, Wingham; (Mrs. Thorn -
ton's mother married twice); 13
grandchildren and nine great-
grandchildren.
The body rested at the D. A.
Rann funeral home in Brussels.
On Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.,
Rev. H. L. Jennings, of St.
John's Anglican Church, Brus-
sels, conducted the funeral ser-
vice. Interment was in Brus='
sels cemetery.

Mrs. Jack Donald and son,
Ian, of Midland, Mich., visited
over the weekend with her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jam-
ieson. Mrs. Jamieson, who has
been bedfast for the past cou-
ple of weeks, is somewhat im-
proved and is able to be up and
around.

Dale's 86th birthday.

Honor Departing Residents
A farewell gathering of
neighbors at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. William Jewitt Mon-
day evening, honored Mr. and
Mrs. Alfred Buchanan, prior to
their departure for their new
home in Clinton. During the ev-
ening progressive euchre was
enjoyed, with prizes going to
the high player, Mrs. Don
Buchanan; lone hands, Mrs.
Howard Preszcator; low, Mrs.
Alfred Buchanan. Mr. William
Jewitt spoke a few words to
the honored couple, and the
evening closed by singing, "For
They Are Jolly Good Fellows."
Mrs. Jewitt and assistants serv-
ed lunch, and a social half-hour
was enjoyed.

CPT Committee
Plans Float
At Monday night's meeting
of Edelweiss Rebekah Lodge it
was announced that the CPT
committee of Odd Fellows and
Rebekahs plan to enter a float
in the Santa Claus parade this
Saturday.
Members plan to charter a
bus for transportation to Gode-
rich on Dec. 5, when Mrs. Eula
Hyckie, assembly vice-president,
pays her official visit to Gode-
rich Rebekah Lodge. Any mem-
ber wishing to go are asked to
contact the noble grand, Mrs.
Charles Reeves.
Further plans were made for
a joint Christmas party with
members of Fidelity Lodge
IOOF and the families of both
lodges. A pot -luck lunch will
be served following entertain-
ment, which is being arranged
by the main officers of both
lodges.
Winners at a euchre follow-
ing the meeting were: Mrs.
Robert Bowie, Mrs. R. K. Mc-
Farlane, Mrs. William Blair,
David Papple, Albert O'Reilly
and John Tremeer.
Lunch was served, convened
by Mrs. John Hillehrecht.

Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Mcdonald, of Staffa.

tended the Odd Fellows' euchre
party in Exeter on Thursday
evening. Mrs. Philip Hern, of
Winchelsea, was ladies' high;
men's high, Harold Bell, of
Elimville; lone hands, Mrs. Ray
Cottle, of Thames Road. They
sold tickets on a turkey, and
Mrs. Ray Cottle, of Thames
Road was the winner.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Ball and
family, of Clinton, spent a cou-
ple of days this past week with
Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Kerslake
and family.
Mrs. Beverley Morgan and
Susan, of Thames Road. visited
on Friday with Mr. and Mrs.
Newton Clarke.
Mr. and Mrs. William Wal-
ters and Danny visited on Sat-
urday evening with Mr. and
Mrs. Elson Lynn and family.
The Elimville WMS and WA
was held nn Wednesday after-
noon at the home of Mrs. Wil-
son. The theme of the meeting
was "Peace." Rev. Mr. Wilson
had charge of the election of
officers for the coming year.
Mrs. Colin Gilfillan read the
Scripture lessons and Mrs. Phil-
ip Hern, the study book. Mrs.
Newton Clarke was in charge
of the worship part of the
meeting. Lunch was served at
the close.
Miss Kay Horne, of London,
spent the weekend at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Freeman Horne.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Smith
and Penny, of Crediton, visited
Sunday evening with Mr. and
Mrs. Colin Gilfillan and Barbara
Anne.
Mrs. Elwyn Kerslake visited
her mother on Sunday, Mrs.
Annie Veal, who is a patient
in South Huron Hospital, Exe-
