last Thursday evening in the
Community Hall.
Mrs. Ken McDonald, first
vice-president, opened the meet-
ing. The minutes of the last
n�)}eeting were read by the sec-
a'etary, Mrs. Nancy Craig. Mrs.
William Humphries reported on
the finances. The ladies of the
Institute were asked to take
part in the Hobby Fair at the
County Home, the gifts to be
left with Mrs. Ronald Bennett.
The Christmas meeting will
be held Thursday evening, Dec.
14, when the roll call will be
a donation to Retarded Chil-
dren in Wingham. There will
also be an exchange of gifts,
valued at 50 cents. The society
decided to invite the District
Manual Institute Rally to hold
their autumn meeting at Wal-
ton next October.
The delegates, Mrs. Harvey
Craig and Mrs. Alvin McDon-
ald, to the Elimville Huron
County Institute Rally gave very
interesting reports. Roll call
was answered by "hints for
storing bulbs." Mrs. George
Williamson and Mrs. Roy Wil-
liamson were conveners for a
program on Agriculture. The
motto, "Whether a fellow ends
up with a goose egg or a nest
egg depends on the chick he
married," was ably given by
Mrs. George Williamson.
Following the pictures, a
gift was presented to Mrs. H.
Traviss on behalf of the insti-
tute in appreciation for the
showing of her colorful slides.
Mrs. George Williamson read
a humorous reading. Lunch was
served by Mrs. Gerald Ryan,
Mrs. A. Coutts, Mrs. G. McGav-
in, Mrs. George Love and Mrs.
William Dennis.
Next Sunday morning, Dec.
3, Sunday School will commence
at 10 a.m. and church service
at 11 a.m., in Duff's United
Church.
Mrs. Hilda Sellers, of Lucan,
was a weekend guest, •at the
home of her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herb
Traviss.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Drager
of Dutton, spent the weekend
with their daughter and son-in-
law, Mrs. Herb Lisso and Mr.
Lisso.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Marks
and Mrs. John Shannon visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Marks, Exeter, on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Horace Rutledge
and family, of London, spent
the weekend with relatives in
the village.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Miller vis-
ited with Mr. and Mrs. William
Miller, Mitchell, on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dinsmore
of Kitchener, visited with Mr.

The November Meeting of
the McKillop Group was held
at the home of Mrs, David Wat-
son with the ladies of Bethel
WA as guests. Mrs. Jack Bos-
man presided, opening with a
hymn, with Mrs. Campbell. Wey
at the piano. Mrs. Andrew
Coutts offered prayer, after
which the Scripture lesson was
read by Mrs. George Fox from
Ephesians 6:10-18. Dean and
Debbie Wey sang "Away in a
Manger.
Mrs. Gordon McGavin chose
for her topic, "Lest We For-
get." A reading entitled, "Two
Soldiers," was given by. Mrs.
J. Bosman.
Following the reports and
business, Mrs. Norman Schade
was appointed to conduct elec-
tion of officers for the coming
year, which resulted as follows:
President, Mrs. Jack Bosman;
first vice-president, Mrs. Gor-
don McGavin; second vice-presi-
dent, Mrs. Norman Schade; sec-
retary, Mrs. George Love; treas-
urer, Mrs. Norman Schade; pian-
ists, Mrs. E. McCreath, Mrs. M.
Hackwell and Mrs. D. Watson;
copper contest leaders, Mrs.
William Dennis, Mrs. William
Leeming; visiting committee,
Mrs. Gordon McGavin, Mrs.
David Watson.
The leaders of the copper
contest gave their reports. Mrs.
William Leeming's side won the
contest, therefore the losing
side, captained by Mrs. William
Dennis, will entertain the win-
ners at the December meeting.
A delicious lunch was served
by the hostess, Mrs. Gordon Mc -
Gavin, Mrs. Campbell Wey, Mrs.
William Leeming, Mrs. Andrew
Coutts and Mrs. E. McCreath
Mr. and Mrs. Alf Anderson
visited with Mr. and Mrs. P.
Pickard at Mitchell last, Sun-
day.
Master Larry Walters has re-
turned home after undergoing
an appendectomy in Clinton
Public Hospital last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Love, of
Wadena, Sask., are visiting at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wal-
ter Brooadfoot after attending
the funeral of the late Mrs.
Ella Farquharson last Friday.
Recent visitors at the same

Congratulations are extend-
ed to Miss Brenda Houston,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rae
Houston, Grey Township, who
has been selected Snow Queen
for 1961. She will reign over
the Santa Claus parade in Sea -
forth on Saturday, Dec. 2.

visited with his mother, Mrs.
Fred Ennis, last Friday.
BRODHAGEN NEWS OF THE WEEK
Mrs. John L. Bennewies ac-
companied Mr. and Mrs. Glen
Bennewies and Wanda, of Wind-
sor, back to Detroit, Windsor
and Ruthven, where she .will
spend the winter months with
her family., Mr. ,and Mrs. Clar-
ence Bennewies, Mitchell; and
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Bennewies,
Seaforth, visited her before her
departure.
The teacher, Mr. Dunbar, and
pupils of Brodhagen school are
preparing for their annual
Christmas concert, to be held
in the Community Hall Dec. 8.
Many of the pupils will take
part in a public school church
service to be held next Sunday
evening, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m.,
at Main Street United Church.
Mitchell, under the direction of
Mr. E. C. Harn, music super-
visor of the school.
Mrs. Albert Querengesser
had a sale of plumbing and
electrical equipment on Satur-
day afternoon, with Franklin
Buuck, the auctioneer.
The family of George Diegel
surprised him on his 88th birth-
day, when they gathered at his
home for a social evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith,
of Blenheim, spent the week-
end at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Smith and Ed.
Smith and celebrated Mr. Ed.
Smith's 79th birthday on Satur-
day.
Mrs. Roy Eickmeir and baby
daughter have returned home
here after spending a week with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Eisler, Logan, upon leaving
Stratford Hospital.
The wedding dinner and re-
ception was held at the Com-
munity Hall for Mr. and Mrs.
Cyril Murray (Rose Mary Feen-
ey) on Saturday.
