The president, Mrs. Albert Cronin, presided. An invitation to a tea spon- sored by the CWL, of Clinton, was received, also an invitation to the Mercy Shelter tea in Chatham. .Damaged or broken toys are being asked for. These should be left in the basement of the church. The financial report was giv- en by the treasurer, Mrs. Jack Lane, with a detailed report of the summer carnival. Visitors to the: sick are Mrs. Michael Doyle and Mrs. William McMil- lan. Volunteers for caring for the altars for October were Mrs. William McMillan and Mrs. Frank Williams. Plans were made for a sale of homemade baking, to be held in Seaforth on Oct. 7. The date, Oct. 25, was set for the annual bazaar and bingo. Father Coughlin spoke to the ladies, explaining the forthcom- ing census of the diocese. A prize donated by Mrs. Clarence Ryan, was won by Mrs. Albert Cronin. Anniversary, Services 'Beautiful seasonable flowers decorated Constance United Church when they observed their anniversary services. Rev. Lewis, of Auburn United Church, brought to the congre- gation at both services, inspir- ing messages on what our Church, as God's Church, should mean to everyone and the light that shines through us as the Light from Jesus did shine. Rev. Lewis used the colors in the flowers present to bring out the true meaning in his even- ing service: white for purity, green for peace, blood -red for sacrifice, and yellow fbr light.
