. A pretty wedding took place
in Ontario Street United Church,
Clinton. on Saturday, July 29,
at 4:00 o'clock, when Sharon
Cook. Seaforth, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Cook, Clinton,
became the bride of Donald
Diehl. Mitchell, son of Mr. and
Mrs. John Diehl, Mitchell. Rev.
G. Mills officiated.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a waltz -
length gown of pure silk or-
ganza over bridal satin. The
fitted bodice featured a large
portrait neckline, with Chantil-
ly lace, front yolk and long lily -
point sleeves. Her waist -length
veil, trimmed with lace motifs,
was held by a crown of •nrg'anza
and lace, trimmed 'with pearls
and sequins. She carried a•
bouquet of pink roses set in
white tulle. Her only jewellery
was tiny cultured pearl ear-
rings and a pearl drop, gifts of
the groom.
Miss Carolyn Diehl, Mitchell,
sister of the groom, was brides-
naaid, and Mrs. Jim Howson,
Clinton, was matron of honor,
wearing aqua nylon chiffon ov-
er taffeta featuring a shirred
bodice and a full skirt. A small
bow trimmed the waistline. The
headdress was a matching bow
with veiling. They carried nose-
gays of white mums set in pink
tulle.
Ralph Siemon, Mitchell, was
groomsman, and Mr. Jim How-
son, Clinton, and Mr. Bob Har -
off, Mitchell, were ushers.
The organist was Nelson Mc-
Linchey, and the soloist, Miss
Carolyn Hammond, sang "The
Wedding Prayer" and "I'11 Walk
Beside You."
Dinner was served in Hotel
Clinton, followed by a recep-
tion in Brodhagen Hall. The
bride's mother chose a cham-
pagne pure silk sheath with
green accessories. The groom's
mother wore a heavenly blue
sheath with a lace bodice and
white accessories. Their corsag-
es were pink carnations,
For the honeymoon the bride
donned a two-piece dress of
beige nylon over taffeta in
shades" -of rust and green with
spindrift- green accessories. Her
corsage was of variegated
orange carnations.
Guests were present from
Michigan, Brantford, Kitchener,
Brucefield, Seaforth, Clinton and
Mitchell.
FINLAYSON—COLQUHOUN
Roy's United Church was the
scene of a pretty wedding on
Saturday, July 29, at 3 o'clock,
when Mary Irene Colquhoun,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Colquhoun, Staffa, and Garry
Alexander Finlayson, Cromar-
ty, were united in marriage by
Rev. B. Daynard.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a floor -
length gown styled in nylon
tulle and Chantilly lace with
full-length sleeves and a sabrina
neckline, trimmed with baby
pearls and iridescent sequins.
The skirt had lace panels set in
the front and back, and the
bride carried a bouquet of red
roses.
Miss Edna Patterson, Fuller-
ton, as maid of honor, and
bridesmaids, Mrs. Laird Finlay-
son, Kippen, and Mrs. Henry
Leonhardt, Brodhagen, wore
dresses trade of lavender ny.
Ion. The necklines were scoop-
ed, the waists fitted, and the
skirts full with matching lace
as trimming. These gowns were
completely lined with peau
sole, and each carried yellow
mums.
Mr. Murray Finlayson, Crom-
arty, acted as groomsman for
his brother, and Mr. Gordon
Colquhoun, Staff"a, brother of
the bride, and. Mr. Reg Finlay-
son, Cromarty, brother of the
groom, were ushers.
Soloist for the occasion was
Miss Doris Johns, Cromarty, ac-
companied by Mrs. Elmer Dow,
of Cromarty, as organist.
A reception was held in the
church parlor, where the bride's
mother received the guests,
wearing a fitted sheath dress of
medium blue silk, styled with
a gathered drape front, a small
white collar and three-quarter
sleeves. She was assisted by
the groom's mother, wearing a
fitted dress of powder blue lace.
Misses Dorothy, Ina and Penny
Sco,tt, Marlene Dow, Joyce Dow,
Muriel Scott and Gail Finlayson
served the guests.
For -her travelling costume,
the bride chose a white linen
sheath trimmed with brown em-
broidery and brown accessories.
After a wedding trip to Winni-
peg and points west, Mr. and
Mrs. Finlayson will reside at
Walton.

HARRY S. BRUXER
DUBLIN — The sad news
reached Dublin during the past
week of tli,e death of Harry S.
Bruxer, of Spokane, Washing-
ton, where he has been living.
for a number of years.
He leaves to mourn his loss
his loving wife, Rachael, and
one son, David Leo, also one
niece, Mary Bruxer; one broth-
er, Joseph, who also lives in
Spokane, Wash.; a brother,
Louis, living on the home farm
rear Dublin, and three sisters,
(Hannah) Mrs. Louis Gormley,
of Kitchener, Ont.; Margaret, of
Toronto, and Mary, of Chicago,

The Winchelsea Euchre Club
held their picnic at Riverview
Park in Exeter on Monday eve-
ning with 32 present. A picnic
lunch was enjoyed at 7 o'clock,
after which races were held as

bara Anne Gilfillan; boys, 10 to

A Mitchell woman won the nia.

en and District Chamber of
Commerce chicken barbecue
and social at the Community
Park Wednesday evening. Mrs.
George (Lena) Bennewies, Mit-
chell, held the lucky ticket, the
last ticket in the drum.
The Brodhagen Band played
selections throughout the eve-
ning. A variety program was
presented, with Edgar Elligsen
as the chairman, and included
numbers by the Junior Farmer
Male Quartette of McKillop
Township; solos, Sharon Strong,
Diane Henderson; musical num-
bers, Karen, Pauline and Erlyn
Osborne, and Clare French. A
record crowd of 530 paid ad-
mission to the dance.
