Mrs. John Nicholson read the address and they were presented with cash and several gifts. Lorne Mueller's orchestra provided music for dancing, and lunch was served. Margaret Ann was presented with a gift from the teacher, Mrs. Thompson, and the Pupils of the school. Mrs. Regan and family have sold their farm to James Horan, RR 5, Mitchell, and' are moving to London this week. Christian Home Plans Picnic The Stewards of the Christian ' Home held their monthly meeting in the church basement with Mr. and Mrs. George Jarmuth, Mrs. Harold Elligsen and Mrs. Ralph Hicks in charge of devotions and lunch. Pastor Brill took the topic and spoke on "Worship," and much discussion followed. Ralph Fischer, the president, was in charge of the business, and some of the collec- tion for the surfacing in the church sheds was handed in to the treas- urer to start a fund. A picnic was planned for August 13 at the Pin- ery, near Grand Bend, right after church service. There ivill be no meetings during July and August. Brodhagen schooi-rpupils and the • teacher, Mr. Don Wolfe, and sev- eral mothers, also the pupils of Jarmuth's school and teacher, Mr. Steller and several mothers, en- joyed a bus trip to Niagara Falls on Friday. Mr. Dunbar, the teach- er who has been hired for the local school, spent half a day at the school here recently. Mrs. -Harold Mogh, , Mrs. John Brodhagen, Mrs. Robert Weitzel, Mrs, Herman Leonhardt, Miss Marie Meyer and Miss Margaret Ford attended the trousseau tea for Miss Shirley Daer at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Daer (Martha Brodhagen) at Au- burn on Saturday: The sympathy of the commun- ity is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Ad. T entowsky and Shirley in the death of their son and brother, 'Larry Trentowsky. Messrs.. Mervin Dietz and Rus- Sholdice supervised the chick- en 'barbecue. at Brussels last Wed- nesday. Mrs. Russell Sholdice attended a shower on Thursday evening at Duff's United Church, McKillop, for Miss Dorothy Keys, prior to her marriage to Mack Sholdice,, of Watton. Members of the United Luther- an Church Women attended a mis- sion meeting at Ellice St. Paul's Church last Wednesday afternoon. A shower was held in the Com- munity Hall here for Mr. and Mrs. Roy Eickineir (Joan Eisler). Mrs. Bill Miller read the address and they were presented with a bed- room suite. Dancing was enjoyed to Norris Orchestra, and lunch ,,Was served in the basement. Miss Gertrude Herbert, of Santa Monica, California, visited her bro- ther, Fred Herbert, and Mrs. Her- bert., Mrs. Kenneth Siemon and baby daughter have returned home from Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth. Mr.- iobert French has purchas- ed the home of Fred Harloff. Miss Darlene French has com- pleted' the hairdressing course in Kitchener and is at present doing some hairdressing at her home. Mrs. Barbara McLeod, Mitchell, with her sister, Mrs. Chas. Ahrens, for ,the weekend. Vacation Bible School will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church here the week of July 10 to 14. All children of the sur- rounding district are welcome. Please register with Mrs. R. Shol- dice. The congregational picnic is planned for Sunday, July 23. Flowers adorned the altar of St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Sun- day in memory of Mrs. Ed. Smith, who passed away two years ago, July 28. They were placed by her husband and family. Baskets of flowers were in the chancel from the funeral on Saturday of Larry Trentowsky. Mrs. Donald McLaughlin and Dale, of Kincardine, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Diegel. Mrs. Ralph Hicks and Sherry are spending this week holidaying in Toronto. Mrs. Henry E, Diegel returned home from Scott Memorial Hospi- tal, Seaforth" Brodhagen Band and majorettes took part in the Ayr Band Tattoo on Friday evening, and on Sunday afternoon at Harvey's Cemetery decoration service, Logan Town- ship. Mitchell Lions Club', of which Russell Sholdice has been presi- dent for the past year, held their finalmeeting of the season at the Community Hall here on Friday evening with a chicken barbecue, at which Mr. Derek Nind, of At- wood, installed the officers for the coming year. Mr. and Mrs, Harold Wurdell and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hinz visited in Detroit recently. They attended the Heckman - Curtis wed- ding. Mr. and Mrs. William Heckman, of Fort Erie, with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hinz. Hold Shower For July Bride -Elect Mauve iris and pink and white peonies decorated the basement of Duff's Church, McKillop, Thurs- day, June 22, when a surprise mis- cellaneous shower was held in hon- or of Miss Dorothy Keys, prior to her July wedding. An enjoyable evening was spent with contests led by Miss . Joan Pryce and Mrs. Gordon McKenzie. Miss Dianne Henderson favored with a couple of solos, and Miss - Storey also favored with a solo. Mrs. Bruce Coleman read a poem. Miss Linda Papple read an ad- dress and many useful gifts were presented to Dorothy. She very fittingly thanked all and invited everyone to a trousseau tea at her mother's home on July 1. Lunch was Served. Following the morning worship at Cavan Church, Winthrop, on Sunday, the congregation present- ed Rev, W. H. Summerell with a well-filled purse of money. Mrs. William Church read the address and W. T. Dodds made the pres- entation. Rev. Summerell is leav- ing the McKillop charge to take over a charge at Bright. Takes Jackpot At Legion Bingo'; Stan Collins, of Clinton, walked away with a jackpot of $66.00 and the special at the Seaforth Cana- dian Legion bingo Saturday night. Other specials were won by Mrs. William Blair and Muriel Hudson, Seaforth. The $25.00 special' was won by Margaret Boa, of Hensall. Regular games went as follows: Wes. KIPPEN Cochrane Reunion The Cochrane reunion, attended by 60 membhrs of the clan, was held Saturday at the cottage of Mr. and Mrs. William Fuss at Elm Heights, near St. Joseph, Saturday. Members attended from Michigan, Exeter, Seaforth, Palmerston, Kip - pen, Zurich, Centralia and Hensall. Following a picnic supper, a program of sports was run off un- der direction of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Madge and Mr. and Mrs. Ian Mc- Allister. Prize to eldest person present went to John Cochrane, of Kippen; youngest, Karen, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ian McAllis- ter, Zurich. Officers elected were: President, Alex McMurtrie, Kip - pen; secretary, Mrs. Harold Jones, Kippen; treasurer, Ian McAllister.
