Mr. Bert McKay, London, spent Sunday with friends in the village. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Wilson and Brian and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Wilson spent Monday in Stratford. Mr. Don McKenzie, St. Thomas, and Mrs. S. McKenzie were at Mrs. McKenzie's home for a short time on Sunday. We are glad to report Mrs. McKenzie has im- proved in health. Holy Name Society Hears Reports $t. James' Holy Name Society held their regular monthly meet- ing Tuesday evening in the school with 34 members present. The president, Leo Hagan, re- ported on the parish co-ordinating meeting. He reminded members that the annual ratepayers' meet- ing will be held Wednesday, Dec. 28, and urged all to attend. Following a brief address by Rev. C. E. Sullivan, spiritual di- rector, a panel discussion was held with the topic being Church Unity. HURONDALE WI MEMBERS ENTERTAIN AT ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY Lovely decorations in Christmas motif formed an attractive set- ting in Exeter Legion - Hall Fri- day evening when Hurondale Wo- men's Institute was host to eight other institutes in the form of a Christmas party, with over 200 present, and Christmas music was enjoyed throughout the party. Members of each institute re- sponded to the roll call by giving their maiden name. Mrs. Emery Fahner, of Crediton, commented on the motto, "Peace on Earth, Good Will Towards Men." Zurich Institute contributed a musical number; vocal duet, Mrs. Ross Skinner and Mrs. Howard Pym from Elimville; a skit, "School Days," Kippen East WI, causing much laughter and enjoyment; reading, Mrs. Reeves from Grand Bend Institute; piano duet, "0 Holy Night," Mrs. J. M. Tieman and Mrs. K. McCrae, from Dash- wood. A wonderful climax to a lovely evening was the rawing of the Three Wise Men on their way to Bethlehem by Mr. Mac- Kay, an artist of exceptional abil- ity from London, enhanced with beautiful colored lighting effects and Christmas music. The draw - Ing was done with colored chalk. Gifts for institute having the largest representation present went to Kippen East WI; eldest member present, Mrs. Alice Joynt, Hensall; youngest, Mrs. Bob Bell, Kippen; birthday nearest date of party, Mrs. Fred Beer, Hensall; member with largest family,. Mrs. V. Becker, Dashwood; prize for the best table centre decoration went to Grand Bend. Presidents and, secretaries of each institute participated in a contest and the winners were: Ruth Skinner, Elimville, and Mrs. W. Gill, Grand Bend. Mrs. A. Run- dle expressed courtesy remarks, and a Christmas lunch was served': Hurondale WI are to be con- gratulated for such a lovely par- ty and the wonderful way in which it was organized drew forth many fine comments. Mrs. A. Morgan and Mrs. H. Strang formed the re- ception committee, and Mrs. Mar- ion Dougall was in charge of the recreation period:, and Mrs. Rufus Kestle judged the table centre dec- orations. FiltS11 Miss Belle Campbell presided at the annual tneeting o the WMS of' First Presbyterian Church held in the church hall on Tuesday. Treasurer. Mrs. J. McGregor, in her annual report, showed a very gratifying'sum had been rais- ed for the year. Reports.were also given for the year by Mrs. E. Russell, secretary, and for Glad Tidings. Welcome and Welfare, Literature and press secretaries each one showing results of a faith- ful year's work. Devotions were taken by Miss M. Gray doing the scripture read- ing; Mrs. Thompson, the medita- tion, and Mrs. Butt, the prayer. A beautiful Christmas story was read ,by Mrs. Russell which truly typified the real Christmas spirit. Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Malcolm attended the fifth anniversary of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Gibb, at their home Saturday evening, and enjoyed a turkey dinner. Miss Diana Kemp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kemp, is vis- iting a while with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Pepper. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith, Bruce and Glenyce, of Fullarton, with Mr. and Mrs; Dalton Mal- colm on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Roney in Stratford. Mr. Wayne Pepper, Guelph, with his parents for the weekend. WA Has Meeting The December meeting of Zion WA was held at the home of Mrs. Ross Pepper with Mrs. Lorne Aik- en s presiding. The Scripture was read by Mrs. Morley Lannin and Rev. Mr. Daynard led in prayer. Christmas readings were given by Mrs. Wilfred Annis, Mrs. Glen Pepper and Mrs. Dalton, while piano solos were played by Joan Annis, Anne Aikens and Sandra Smith. The following slate of officers .for 1961 was presented by the nom- inating committee: Presidents, Mrs, Lawrence Barker, Mrs. Glenn Pepper, Mrs. Jim Statton; treas- urer, Mrs. Charles Roney; secre- tary, Mrs. Lloyd Barker; assist- ant secretary, Mrs. R. Beautiful decorations in Christmas motif formed attractive decorations and were arranged by members of the auxiliary. Mrs. J. C. Goddard fav- ored with a piano medley of Christmas carols. Mrs. Lorne Hay was in charge of the devotional, using Christmas as her theme. Mrs. Pearl Passmore read sacred passages and Mrs. H. Hay read a paper, "Will You Find the True Joy At Christmas." Miss Dor- othy Parker sang a solo, "Silent Night," accompanied by her sis- ter, Miss Geraldine Parker at the piano. A motion was passed to pay the balance of the allocation. Five dollars was voted to the Women's Missionary Society to help defray shipping charges towards the bale' recently forwarded for European relief; $10 was voted to CARE, and $10 to World Refugee. Mrs. Walter Spencer showed lovely colored slides of their trip to the coast which she and her husband and family took this sum- mer. It was announced that the annual congregational meeting of the church will be held January 30th. Hostesses for the January meet- ing are Mrs. Robert Cook and Mrs. Don Joynt, when reports of all secretaries will be read. A Christmas lunch was served under the convenership of Mrs. Douglas. Cook and Mrs. Howard Searle. Turkey Raffle Nets $121.60 For Hospital Group. The turkey raffle, sponsored by the Women's Hospital Auxiliary, netted the group $121.60, the treas- urer, Miss Gladys Thompson, re- ported to the group Tuesday. The auxiliary has a bank balance of $1,006.97. Mrs. Elmer Larone, president, presided. Mrs. R. J. Boussey read the minutes and took the roll call. The mystery box was won by Mrs. Ken Willis. A social period was enjoyed fol- lowing the meeting. A group of talented high school students presented an a using skit, entitled, "The Farmer's Daughter."
