Mrs. William • Mulholland has been confined to Stratford Hospital where she underwent an operation. Mr. and Mrs. John Alberti and daughter, Elaine, of Philadelphia, Pa., visited friends here after an absence of 28 years. He had re- sided at the parsonage. From here they went to Buffalo, N.Y., to say farewell to his brother, Rev. Paul Alberti, his wife and five children, who are leaving to reside in Mal- aya. They are also spending a few days in Montreal with their daughter and her husband, Gwen and Boris Bruder. A preview by Mrs. Reid was followed by a panel discussion with Miss Eileen Will- iamson as moderator; Miss Jean Walters, butcher; Mrs. Gerald Ry- an, home economist; Misses Mona Clark, Teresa Ryan and Mary Hel- en- Buchanan, housewives. _. Correspondence was read and dealt with. September 15, 16, and 19th were the dates announced for the Millinery- Course. Mrs. Herb Travis and Mrs. Wm. Dennis were appointed leaders for the "Third Meal" course. It was agreed that the remaining coffee spoons be kept by. the Institute for use in the hall. Mrs. George Blake, Mrs. E. Stevens and Mrs. D. Ennis were appointed to buy silverware. The roll call was answered with "a use for salt, soda, or lemon, other than cooking". Mrs. Law- rence Ryan and' Mrs. Joe Ryan, convenors for Home Economics, were in charge of the second park. of the program, with Mrs. Joe 'Ry- an giving the motto, "Don't walk this year_in last year's rut". Mrs. F. Walters, District Director, re- ,orted on the recent East uron District Annual held at Cranbrook. Mrs, George Fox gave 'a very interesting demonstration on oil painting on cloth, glass, metal, china, wool etc., and displayed tea towels, pillow cases, etc. A button guessing contest conducted by Mrs. Fox was won by Mrs. Gerald Ryan. Lunch hostesses were Mrs. Will- iam Dennis, Mrs. A. Coutts, Mrs, G. Ryan, Mrs. G. Love and Mrs. E. McCreath. Miss Ione Watson, of London, and Miss Verda Watson, of Van- couver, spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Watson. Mrs. James Dennison, the fprm- er Maud Johnston, of Galt, sister of Mrs. George Dundas, passed away in South Waterloo Memorial Hospital, Sunday. The funeral was held from Little's Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30. Inter- ment was made in Preston ceme- tery. Miss June Hackwell, Reg. N„ has returned to London after holi- daying with her parents', Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Hackwell for the past three weeks. Mrs. Lawrence Cummings, of Clinton, and her daughter, Mrs: Arthur Buck and Bruce, of Monc- ton, N.B.; called on friends in the village recently. Honor Bride to Be Miss Joyce Jewitt, bride-to-be, was honored at a weiner roast last Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Buchanan. Miss Jewitt was the leader of the GGIT and SS teacher of the inter- mediate class at Constance United Church. During the evening, when mem- bers of the classes were present, Miss Mary MacGregor read an ad- dress and Miss Glenyce Jewitt pre- sented a gift from the CGIT and Master David Preszcator presented Miss Jewitt with a gift from the Sunday School class. The evening was spent in enter- tainment and weiner roast. Miss Jewitt thanked all for their remem- brances. emembrances. Miss Glenyce Jewitt thanked Mrs. Buchanan for her 'home on behalf of the CGIT, while Jim Preszcator extended thanks on behalf of the Sunday School class. Have Kitchen Shower Friday evening Miss Muriel Dale was hostess ' to a kitchen shower honoring Miss Joyce Jewitt, -bride- to-be, when girl friends assemblgd to extend good wishes. The fea- ture of theevening was a treasure hunt for her kitchen gifts, and after they were unwrapped she thanked all for the useful gifts. The hos- tess served lunch.
