Bride - Elect
A miscellaneous shower was held
at the home of Mrs. James Flan-
nigan in honor of Miss Julia Flan-
nigan prior to her marriage, when
25 guests were present. A few
games of bingo were enjoyed be-
fore Julia was presented with many
lovely gifts. Miss Muriel Hudson
read an address to Julia and lunch
was served, with a social half-hour
enjoyed by all.
The bride was also presented
with a coffee table and matching
enol tables on behalf of the staff
of Highland Shoes Ltd., where she
is employed.

A quiet wedding was solemnized
in St. James' Roman Catholic
Church, Seaforth, on Saturday,
July 16, at 10 a.m., before Father
Laverty, of London, when Miss
Julia Flannigan, daughter of Mrs.
Julia Flannigan, of Seaforth, and
the late James Flannigan, ex-
changed wedding vows with Mel-
vin Acheson, of Seaforth.
The bride wore a street length
light beige sheath of lace over taf-
feta, with beige accessories.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Smale, of
Seaforth, were best man and ma-
tron; of .honor, with Mrs. Swale
wearing a turquoise sheer organza
over taffeta, with white lake trim-
ming at the top. She wore white
accessories and white roses.
A reception dinner was held in
Exeter. Following a honeymoon,
the couple will reside in Seaforth.

A pretty wedding was solemniz-
ed at First Presbyterian Church,
Seaforth, on Saturday, July 16,
when Marjorie Jean Pethick and
Donald Kenneth Carter exchanged
wedding vows. The double ring
ceremony was conducted by Rev.
Douglas 0. Fry, of Chesterville,
amid a setting of pink and white
carnations, mums and gladioli,
ferns and candelabra.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Pethick, of Sea -
forth, and the groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin H. Carter, of
Innerkip,,
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, chose a wedding gown
of wtiite pure silk organaza over
taffeta. The fitted bodice featured
a portrait neckline, long lily -point
sleeves trimmed with lace applique
and seed pearls. The full length
bouffant skirt featured Iace cir-
cles throughout. Her fingertip veil
of nylon tulle, edged with lace,
was held in place by a tiara of
seed pearls, and she carried a
white Bible crested with a mauve
orchid.
Maid of honor, Miss Beth Mc
Ewing, Blyth, and bridesmaids,
Mrs. Doug Carter, Innerkip, and
Miss Marlene Miller, Seaforth,
wore identical street -length gowns
of violet silk organza. The full
bouffant skirts were emphasized
by the fitted bodices with tucking
down the front, edged with appli-
qued organza, with cap sleeves,
and carried a bouquet of yellow
roses and white stephanotis,
Doug Carter, Innerkip, brother
of the groom, was the best man.
The ushers were Keith Pethick,
Seaforth, brother of the bride, -and
Jack Carter, London,,cousin of the
groom,

The happy couple left for a wed-
ding trip to points west, the bride
travelling in a white suit with

July 16, at 2:00 p.m., when Miss

with Arnold. Johnston Taylor, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Taylor, of
Brucefield. Rev. W. H. Summerell
officiated for the double -ring cere-
mony.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a waltz -length
gown of Chantilly lace over pleat-
ed net •and satin with a' fitted
bodice, coming to a point at the
waist. Ruffles of lace and. net fell
from the waistline at the front,
forming a short chapel train .which
was decorated with iridescent se-
quins and pearls. The dress had a
bateau neckline and lilypointed
sleeves. The fingertip veil was
held in place by a tiarra encrested
with pearls and iridescent sequins.
She carried a bouquet of deep red
roses and fern.

The bride,walked down the aisle
to the musio of "The Bridal Chor-
us" and walked out to "The Wed-
ding March," played by Mrs. Merv-
in Pipe, Mr. Dan McDonald, of
Walton, sang "The Wedding Pray-
er" and "Because."
Twins, Bonnie and Betty Taylor
were flower -girls, wearing green -
nylon dresses over yellow taffeta,
and carrying cascades of yellow
carnations with mauve tips. Ring -
bearer for the ceremony was Steph-
en Taylor.
A reception followed in the
church parlors. Assisting at the
tables for the reception were Mrs.
Bruce Coleman, Mrs. Lloyd Wheel-
er, Mrs. Clarence McCutcheon,
Mrs. Jack Coultes and Miss Linda
Papple. The linen tattle cloth and
dishes used at the head table be-
longed to the groom's grandpar-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Camp-
bell, who received them as a wed-
ding gift 50 years ago, and to the
bride's grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. William Beattie.
After a trip to the United States
and parts of Eastern Canada, the
couple will reside at RR 1, Bruce -
field.
Guests were present from Clin-
ton, Seaforth, Cleveland, Bruce -
field, Toronto, Brussels and Is-
lington.

The death o}curred Saturday of
Miss Rosa Simpson 81, Silo was a
native of Walton, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. James Simpson.
For the past 17 years she had

ton, on Monday at 2:00 p.m, Burial
was in Brussels cemetery.
Pallbearers were Harry Bolger,
Jim McLaren, Keith McLaren, Bill
Dodds, Kelly Dalton and Roy Wil-
liamson. Flowerbearers were Gra-
ham Craig and Shirley•Craig.
ROBERT V. MILSON
Robert Victor Nilson, 34, of Mil-
verton, collapsed • and died Satur-
day, apparently from a heart at-
tack, while driving a jalopy at
Bridgeport Speedway, near Kit-
chener. He was formerly of Tuck.

17, 1925. During the Second World
War he served overseas with the
RCAF. A former resident of Ham-
ilton and Kitchener, he moved to
Milverton three months ago and
was employed as a driver by Mil.
verton Transport Co.
On November 21, 1954, he mar-
ried Shirley Love, of Seaforth, and
they had two children, Geoffrey, 2,
and Beverly, 3. Besides his wife
and children, he is survived by his
father, .Harry Milson, of Hamil-
ton; one brother, Kenneth, New
York City; one sister, Mrs. Gordon
Ross, Windsor,
The body was at the McMane
funeral home, Milverton, where a
service was held Tuesday at 1:00
p.m., Rev, H. E. Wright, D.D., of
St. Paul's United Church, officiat-
ing. Burial .followed in,_ Hamilton.
