D.D. Secretary Mrs. Caldwell gave
the revert of the project for the
Home in Barrie. D.D.P. Mrs. Par-
ker . gave an interesting report `of
her year's work throughout the dis-
trict„ and announced the appoint-
ment of Mrs. Lillian Grummett, of
Seaforth, D.D.P. for the coming
•year. Mrs. Grummett spoke, con-
gratulating D.D.P. Mrs. Parker on
her successful year.

Mrs, J. Hillebreeht, of Seaforth,
,gave two humorous readings, "Jes-
sie's Porridge" and "Whelp Father
Laid the Carpet on the Stairs."
Mrs, Fritzley;-of Goderich, direct-
ed a contest, kick the bag of beans,
winner being Mrs. Archie MacGre-
gor.
Supper was served in the lower
hall under the convenership of Mrs,
Inez McEwen, Jr. P.N.G., Mrs.
Glenn Bell, N.G., Mrs. Ernie Chip -

niversary services in Carmel Pres-
byterian Church last Sunday with
guest minister Rev. 11. G. Mac-
Millan, of Knox Presbyterian
Church, Goderich, For his morn-
ing theme he spoke on "A Child's
Answer," and for his evening ser-
mon topic based his thoughts on the
subject, "God Does Not Need the
Majority:" Mr. MacMillan deliv-
ered. two very fine, inspiring mes-
sages.
Sacrament of Baptism was', ob-
served at the morning service,
conducted by Mr. MacMillan, and
infant children 'receiving the rites
of baptism were Alan Robert, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M._ Be];
Katherine Elizabeth, daughter of

A successful rummage sale was
held in the Town Hall Saturday,
sponsored by the Hensall Kinette
'Club, with the proceeds very'grat-
ifying..Several articles which were
left over were boxed and taken to
the Salvation Army, London.
A most successful Girl Guide and
Brownie cookie sale Was held on
Saturday, and in a canvass of the
town,' 240 packages of cookies were
sold,
Mrs. J. E. McEwen, of Hensall,
and Mrs. Alvin McBride, of Exe-
ter, returned home last Saturday
from a delightful two weeks' vaca-
tion spent in Florida. As part of
their itinerary they took a circle
tour of Florida, including trips to
Cypress Gardens and Silver
Springs, the latter they termed as
magnificent, toured around the
city of Miami, St. Petersburg, Key
West, Daytona Beach, St. Augus-
tine and Parrot Jungle. The trip
was made by bus.
Mr. and Mrs. George Hess spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Stan
Doan, of Watford, who were cele-
brating the birthday of their broth-
er-in-law, Mr. Stan Heyward, of
Watford, A turkey dinner was
served with all the trimmings.

Miss Gretta Gauld, =died mis-

lough, addressed over 200 meja-
bers of the Women"s IVIissionary
Society and their special guests
at their annual birthday party,
held in the United Church audi-
torium Friday evening. Miss Gauld
gave a very interesting address,
basing her thoughts on Missions,
and urged her listeners to keep
mission money coming, ' as it is
greatly needed, and concluded her
talk by stating: "That if we loved
God well enough, we, would live. for
His people."
Miss Gauld was born in Formosa
and has spent many years there
working among the lepers. She re-
ceived her education in a Toronto
hospital, and with the exception of
a few years spent in Home Mis-
sions in Bonnyville, Alta., during
the last war, has spent most of her
life in Formosa. She is the daugh-
ter of Mrs. William Gauld, Guelph,
who is 93, and the late Rev. Wm.
Gauld, natives of Kippen, Ont.,
missionaries in Formosa for many
years. The speaker was introduc-
ed by Mrs. George Hess and thank-
ed by Mrs. Geqrge Armstrong.
President Mrs. Earl T. Rowe
was in the chair and welcomed the
members and special guests, the
ladies of Carmel and St. Paul's
Anglican Churches, Hensall; St.
Andrew's United, Kippen; Chisel -
'burst, and Evening Anxil.iary of
the United 'Church. Mrs. Currie
Winlaw presented the devotional,
and Mrs. T. C. Coates offered
prayer. Miss. Carol Brown played
two lovely piano -solos.
The auditorium and school were
beautifully decorated with baskets
of forsythia, pussy willows and
daffodils; apple blossoms formed
-an attractive dee-oration--entwined-
around the pillars in the school-
room, and pink and white motif
were used for color schemes. De-
corating committee were Mrs. R.
J. Paterson and Mrs, R. M. Peck;
