night. Ladies' first was won by
Mrs. G. Reeves; ladies' lone hands

Members of the Women's Institute
held a very interesting short
course, "Catering To Crowds," in
the Community Hall last Tuesday,
when Miss McGinnis, of the Home
Economist Department of Agricul-
ture, Toronto, was the guest speak-
er. A carload of ladies from Gran
brook joined fgr the. demenstra-
tion.
A number of ladies from the
Walton Group attended the meet-
ing of the Friendship Circle of
Brussels Church, Mayor McKin-
ney, of Wingham, gave an illustrat-
ed lecture on his recent tour of
Europe. About 150 attended the
gathering from Moncrieff, Ethel,
Union, .Bluevale, Belgrave, Blyth,
Brussels and Wlton.
Willing Workers Organize
The organization meeting of
"Meat in the Menu" was held at
the home of Mrs. Nelson Reid with
five girls present. The meeting op=
ened with the election of officers:
president, Aileen Williamson; as-
sistant, Teresa Ryan; secretary,
Jean Walters; treasurer, Anne,Ry-
an; pianist, Mary Helen Buchan-
an.
The next meeting will. be held at
the home of Mrs. James McDon-
ald. Mrs. Reid spoke to the gath-
ering about the members' pamph-
ets, choosing food for health. The
group will use the old name, "Wal -
on Willing Workers."

The Walton Group of Duff's Unit-
ed Church held their annual bazaar
in the schoolroom of the church on
Wednesday afternoon. The presi-
dent, Mrs. William Thamer, and
Mrs. Walter Broadfoot received the
ladies in the auditorium of the
church, and Mrs. Nelson Marks
and Mrs. W. Bewley acted as ush-
ers.
-Rev. W. M, Thomas welcomed
the various groups'which were pre-
sent, from Brussels Presbyterian,
Brussels United, Burns'' United
and 'Walton Anglican, as well as
other groups from the Walton
Church.
Mrs. Thamer presided over the
program which opened with invo-
cation prayer' by Rev. Thomas ;
Easter message, Mrs. W. Thomas;
a hymn, with Mrs: Harvey frown
at. the organ; prayer, minister ;
Scripture reading and , -commen-
tary, president.

The ladies were invited to"' the
sale of goods ' in the basement and
'courtesy remarks were given. Ov-
er $200 was realized from the var-.
ious counters which consisted of
home-made baking, candy, mis-
cellaneous, white elephant, attic
treasures, quilts, fancygoods, and
aprons. Lunch was served follow-
ing the sale.

Rev. Funge was speaker for the
evening and spoke on "The Es-
sence of Easter," saying as our
diet, it is varied: education, have
to take an inventory of our educa-
tion; religion, Easter means spring,
new hats, bunnies eggs; sunrise
service, how we have to improve.
What is essence of Easter? Trag-
edy and sorrow and death. Lent
leads up to sorrow; sin and suf-
fering and death, but Jesus shall
save His people from sin—I am the
Resurrection and the Life. Christ
conquered death and has risen—
empty tomb, fitting for Easter;
Risen Christ, not so far away that
His world and ours cannot touch,
be believing and feed my lambs.
The measure of Easter means to
us: Courage and be able to say,
Master; personality endures be-
yond ;the grave, still the same
Christ beyond death as on earsjh.
The final hymn was sung, accom-
panied by organist Miss Joyce
Brown. Benediction was given by
Mr. Funge.
After the service all went to the
