For a second time, Redis-
covering Canada will have Sea -
forth plotted in their GPS as
they prepare to create another
film project to allure travellers
from far and wide. The new
task will have high expecta-
tions, seeing as the first mini -
documentary had approxi-
mately 1.9 million views.
Three years ago, the Brant-
ford/Nova Scotia -based
organization travelled to
Huron East armed with
thousands of dollars of cine-
matography equipment,
including cameras, tripods
and special lighting among
several other components to
make a professional film.
Then, their intentions were
to create a mini -documen-
tary about Seaforth and
Brussels. This time around,
they've branched out and
are focusing primarily on
Huron East as a whole.
"What we're really looking
for in the viewership is for
(people within) Huron
County to say, 'Hey, that's in
Seaforth.' Somebody in
Goderich will then say, 'Holy
crap, I didn't know that
existed and they come out
and see it," said Chris
Cooper, executive producer
of Rediscovering Canada.
"We really want Huron
County to see this and
explore it. But then in turn,
the people in Stratford will
say, hey we want to go
towards Toronto. Well, now
(you can) come towards Sea -
forth, it's only a couple of
minutes down the road.
Same as London, we are only
an hour away."
From the first time when
these specific line of films
began in 2011, Cooper said
to date, the Seaforth/Brus-
sels video still holds the title
as its most viewed mini -doc-
umentary and admitted to it
being the most successful
project. This summer's
endeavour labelled Redis-
covering Huron East is a
seven -part series, with each
episode no longer than five
minutes in length.
This procedure Cooper
follows is to "pack" in mas-
sive amounts of information
so the viewers can see as
much as possible in such
short spans of time. Cooper
said each video involves all
areas like tourist attractions,
local businesses, along with
the all around feel, smell and
taste of rural country life.
Partnered with the munici-
pality of Huron East, the
51 -year-old told the Exposi-
tor that he's excited to start
filming in the place he said
might one day be his home.
"It's fun, it's very interac-
tive. We want the entire
community involved in this,"
Cooper said in a phone
interview.
"If you like the idea of
slowing down, catching your
breath and enjoying a beau-
tiful area, then this is what
these videos are meant for.
They're meant to enlighten
the people about rural
Ontario and what rural
Ontario has to offer."
Cooper's work goes above
and beyond stated Huron
East's economic develop-
ment officer, Jan Hawley in a
recent interview.
"He understands the
essence of our community,
he can communicate that
through film," said Hawley.
She also went on to say
that since Cooper's organi-
zation is constantly going
viral, several new faces from
farther locations may be
attracted to the area.
"There is millions of views.
So we're getting views from
around the world. You never
know where that is going to
lead us," Hawley said. "People
could be showing up on your
doorstep because they saw a
production by Chris Cooper."
Rediscovering Canada is
expected to begin filming in
Huron East some time in June.
