The sweet sound of
December music filled the
air inside the Northside
United Church in Seaforth
last week as the Western
Division Barbershop Christ-
mas Show occupied the bot-
tom pews as well as the bet-
ter part of the upper level.
The theme focused on

Christmas.
Annually, they make an
appearance in various cities
including Strathroy, Sarnia
and London and every five
years or so the civic town of
Seaforth gets the blissful
opportunity of being the
location selected for a little
taste of holiday spirit.
Typically the show breezes
in on the last Sunday of
November.
The director of the Har-
mony Kings, Dave Campbell
said he "thought the event
went really well, it was well
represented, there were
good quartets as well."
Three other barbershop
chapters from the region were

ation, London Men of Accord
and Forest City Fire from Mid-
dlesex Centre.
Each chapter rehearses
the repertoire of songs they
will sing in their respectable
towns or cities. During the
Seaforth gathering every
group sang two to four songs
plus the various quartets
performed as well. Then as a
whole group all of the musi-
cians gave the crowd a
breath -taking finale of two
Christmas songs. An impres-
sive accomplishment since
they only rehearsed 15 min-
utes before the concert.
"We do the last fine tuning
and it always works out very
well," stated Campbell.
The MC of the event, pre-
vious long-time Seaforth
Harmony King, Bruce Whit-

ics of most barbershoppers

"I've probably only sang
with about 10 of them, the
rest are new guys coming in
from Grand Bend, Stratford
and Goderich," said Whit-
more after the roughly two-
hour concert that was hosted
by the Seaforth Harmony
Kings, a group that now has
roughly 35-40 members.

rarely misses a show.
"We enjoy their antics, there
are some of those as you can
see," said Whitmore referring
to part of the night when the
SHK sang outfitted in various
costumes, crooked hats and
vibrant scarfs.
"It's kind of special to have
a chorus of that quality in
Seaforth."
The Seaforth Harmony
Kings are set to have a din-
ner dance on December 9
where the Man of the Year
Award will be announced.
According to the SHK
Facebook page, the event
raised $2,000, which went to
the Seaforth Hospital
Foundation.
