More details on
man Tasered
in Seaforth
(HURON EAST, Ont.) —A Sea -
forth resident was taken into
police custody following an inci-
dent that took place on Main
Street in Seaforth on Thurs-
day, November 24, 2016. At
approximately 6:22 p.m. a
Huron County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officer observed a
white Ford F-350 pickup travel-
ling north on Main Street with
a load of insecure wood in the
back bed of the pickup truck.
Prior to the officer initiating a
traffic stop the driver pulled his
vehicle over and came to a stop
on Main Street. The driver exited
his vehicle and immediately
confronted the police officer.
The irate and aggressive driver
began to berate and threaten the
officer. The driver then refused
to identify himself to the officer.
The officer informed the driver
that he would be placed under
arrest for failing to identify how-
ever this had no effect on the
irate driver. He continued to
threaten the police officer; as
well, he failed to comply with
the officer's demands. The male
then threatened to cause harm
to the officer with a weapon. At
that point the officer used a Con-
ducted Energy Weapon (CEW)
to gain physical control over the
out of control and irate driver.
He was placed under arrest and
transported to the Huron OPP
Detachment for processing.

Loud party leads
to senior being
arrested for
marijuana and
other charges
(HURON EAST, Ont.) —A noise
complaint about a loud party
taking place at the Herit-
age Estates Trailer Park last
night has resulted in criminal
charges for one of the party
goers. Last night around 11:30
p.m. Huron County Ontario Pro-
vincial Police (OPP) received
a call from a nearby resi-
dent that reported there was a
loud party taking place inside
the trailer park that had been
going on for several hours.
Upon arrival officers heard a
loud argument taking place
inside the residence so they
approached the residence in an
effort to investigate what they
thought was a possible domes-
tic altercation. The investigat-
ing officer was immediately
met by an intoxicated male
that refused to identify him-
self and further refused to com-
ply with the officer. Further,
while the officer was attempt-
ing to speak with the male on
the doorstep, the male tried to
slam shut the door on the officer.
This action prompted the officer
to place the male under arrest
for Obstructing a Peace Officer.
During the course of the inves-
tigation officers also found the
male to be in possession of
marijuana. Further checks also
revealed the male were cur-
rently serving a probation sen-
tence and was failing to comply
with conditions of his release.
As a result, a 72 -year-old from
Niagara Falls has been charged
with Obstruct Peace Officer,
Resist Peace Officer, Posses-
sion of a Schedule II Substance
— Cannabis Marijuana and
Fail to Comply with Probation
Order (2 counts). He has been
released from custody with a
court appearance scheduled for
January 16, 2017 at the Ontario
Court of Justice — Goderich.
OPP reminds
hunters to obey
trespassing laws
(HURON COUNTY, Ont.) —The
Huron County Ontario Provin-
cial Police (OPP) Detachment
is reminding the public that the
shotgun season for deer hunt-
ing will commence on Mon-
day, November 7, 2016. With
the start of the shotgun sea-
son Huron OPP quite often
sees an increase in the num-
ber of trespassing complaints
related to hunters illegally
hunting on private property.
Huron OPP would like to
remind hunters that their hunt-
ing license, in no way, gives
them the right to enter or
cross private property with-
out the owner's permission. To
avoid problems and potential
charges, hunters are reminded
to always ask for permission
before entering a property and
always obey posted "No Tres-
passing" signs and symbols.
Failure to do so could lead to
charges under the Trespass
to Property Act and should
one damage property they
could face charges of Mis-
chief under the Criminal Code.
Property owners should avoid
confrontations with trespass-
ers. Obtain as much infor-
mation as possible, such as
names, licence plate numbers
and vehicle(s) descriptions and
immediately call police by call-
ing our non -emergency toll free
number at 1-888-310-1122.
Property owners should be
mindful that a property of any
size, which an owner does not
wish anyone to step upon or
traverse across, should be prop-
erly signed. In order for the pro-
visions contained within the
Trespass to Property Act to be
enforceable, property own-
ers at a minimum must post
a sign that has a red dot on a
white background. Signs that
clearly state "No Trespassing"
are readily available at most
hardware type stores. They are
inexpensive and carry a very
clear and concise message.
Also remember, simply posting
a single sign on a very large
piece of property may not be
enough and signage should
be placed at regular intervals
along the property line. The
signs must also be checked on
a regular basis to ensure that
they are still posted, clearly
visible and in good repair.
Hunters must always fol-
low the hunting safety rules
and laws applicable to the
Trespass to Property Act to
enjoy a safe, legal and enjoy-
able deer hunt. For more infor-
mation about hunting regu-
lations go to www.mnr.gov.

and Forestry (MNRF) office.
