Sad -Accident
Near Wingham, on Wednesday of
last _weeks& young man, named Levers
was in a *ell at" a depth of 45 feet
boring, when he struck a vein of
'natural gas. - He signalled f9r a rope,
but before the rope got -to him he be-
came insensible. Another young man
named Marshall descended to his as
siatance and fastened the rope around
Leaser's body; but he too was overcome
with the gas. - Some of the neighbors
suspiscting that something was wrong,
went to tha well and pulled up Lever's
bo'dy. -Atter considerable delay Mar-_
shall'a body was also brought to the
surface, but life had fled. Lever :was
ty, and is now in a fair -way to recovery.
