Sabbath School Convention
For the past ten years the various
Sabbath Schools of the Ashfield circuit
have united in holding an annual con-
vention and 'each year with increasing
success, On Friday last the tenth an-
nual convention was held at, the Hope
appointment. Three sessions ` were
held, the meetings of the afternoon
and dvening being very largely attend-
ed. 'The morning session at which Mr.
W. Stothers, of Ashfield, presided, was
mainly devoted to receiving compara-
tive reports from the .Sabbath Schools

good order can be secured in the Sun-
day School," The chairman on "How
to engage the whole church in Bible
study." Mr.• S. Murchison gave an
address of welcome.
In the afternoon Mr. Thos. Steven-
son, of,Lucknow, .presided. The fol-
lowing subjects were introduced by the
=varioua speakers and were discussed
w tta interest : Infant class and black
board exerciser Mr. Agnew ; The best
method of presenting truths to primary
classes, Mr Thos. Stevenson ; How to
secure and retain the young, Mr. R.
E. Brown ; Early piety in relation to
character and usefulnes, Mr. D. Mtn -
In the evening the bad Eve, tobacco,
liquor, bad language, bad books, and
bad 'company were "dressed down" by
_school teachers Alton and Brown, and
