I spoke with Helen Lee last
week, and she added a personal
note to my story about the
building of the bridge from last
week's space.
It was necessary for her to
cross the bridge in order to go to
school. She was not particularly
comfortable using the ham-
mock bridge and often times
would take the longer route via
the side road instead. Not sure I
would be comfortable on that
hammock either.
Hullett Central School has
had a busy first month. The
pupils attended the Blyth Steam
Show the very first Friday of the
fall term.
They held their own Terry
Fox run the following week.
Last Thursday in conjunction
with their annual Open House
they held a 50th Anniversary
Celebration of the opening of
the school. It was a perfect
night for the outdoor showing
of the movie "Finding Dory".
The number of pupils attend-
ing Hullett this year is 287 which
means the classes and halls are
full to capacity with students,
activity and noise. I have been
trying, somewhat unsuccess-
fully, to ignore the fact that we
are nearing the end of Septem-
ber and have begun the fall sea-
son in earnest; that the tress are
turning colour and the geese are
honking overhead. However the
wonderful trade-off for that is
the sound of children in the
schoolyard.
Here is a list of teachers and
classes for this term. You will
recognize some names and then
there are a few new ones.
Kindergarten A - Mrs. Moir
and Mrs, Brooks; Kindergarten
B - Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Anderson;
Grade 1 - Mrs. Stanley. The

All the past and present staff who attended the evening event. Exactly 50 years
ago, in 1966, Hullett Central Public School had just begun operations. The school
was a compilation of all the small, one room schools in the area. To celebrate the
occasion, the school held an event on September 22 which included a barbeque,
open house, displays, a time capsule made by the grade 8 class filled with 2016
items, a ceremony with past principals and other speakers, a fundraising movie
showing of "Finding Dory" and more.
