MOTORCYCLE OPERATOR
FAILS ROADSIDE TEST
(BLUEWATER, ON) - A 28 -year-old motorcycle driver had
to find an alternate means of transportation after the driver
failed a roadside screening test the afternoon of September
21
Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers had
set up a "safety lane" in Bayfield in an effort to check for
potential equipment and documentation violations specific to
motorcycle operators passing through the area.
At approximately 12:15 p.m. a northbound Kawasaki Ninja
motorcycle entered into the safety lane located at the inter-
section of Bayfield Main Street North and The Square. Upon
speaking with the driver and checking over the motorcy-
cle officers identified a number of violations. The validation
sticker on the licence place was expired, the driver was una-
ble to surrender a valid permit for the motorcycle and the
vehicle was found to be uninsured.
Additionally, the investigating officer noted the driver had
been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was per-
formed which resulted in a fail for the driver. He was placed
under arrest for Driving a Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milli-
grams of Alcohol and was promptly transported to the Huron
OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided
two samples of his breath to a qualified IntoxilizerTechnician;
both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 28 -year-old Taylor FORRESTER from Grand Bend
has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle — Over 80 Milli-
grams of Alcohol, Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance,
Drive Motor Vehicle — No Permit, Drive Motor Vehicle — No
Validation on Plate and Fail to Surrender Insurance Card.
He was later released from custody with a court appearance
scheduled for November 7, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Jus -

IMPAIRED DRIVER CRASHES PICKUP
(CENTRAL HURON, ON) — A 21 -year-old male driver has
been released from police custody following an Impaired
Driving collision that took place on Friday, September 16,
2016. Just before 4:30 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedics were dispatched
to a rollover collision that took place on Conservation Road
just east of Wildlife Line.
The subsequent police investigation revealed the driver of
a GMC Canyon pickup truck was travelling eastbound on
Conservation Road at a high rate of speed when the pickup
entered into the conservation area. The vehicle contin-
ued eastbound on the narrow gravel roadway whereupon
the driver encountered a large gate that was closed across
the roadway. The driver attempted to steer around the gate
however he lost control of his vehicle. The pickup impacted
the gate and a large boulder causing the vehicle to go air-
borne and land on its passenger side.
The five occupants were able to climb out of the vehi-
cle and one of them was able to call for assistance. The
driver was spoken to at the crash scene and while speak-
ing with the driver the investigating officer determined the
driver had been drinking alcohol and his ability to drive was
impaired. He was subsequently placed under arrest and he
later provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intox-
ilizer Technician. Both of his samples registered over the
legal limit.
A 16 -year-old male from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh and
an 18 -year-old male from Huron East were treated in hospi-
tal with serious but non -life threatening injuries. A 20 -year-
old male from Huron East was treated and released with
minor injuries. The 21 -year-old male driver sustained minor
