Welcoming one doctor and saying good bye to another

On September 13, as is cus-
tomary, Clinton held a recep-
tion for a doctor in the com-
munity who is retiring. At the
same time, they welcomed a
new doctor to the team.
Dr. Maarten Bokhout has
worked at the Clinton Public
Hospital since 1987. When he
first came, he was planning on
staying for just five years.
However he fell in love with
the area, and decided to stay.
"My time in Clinton has
been wonderful," he com-
mented. "The people were
great."
As for his retirement, Bok-
hout will be sticking around,
and his time will be filled with
other projects and activities
he has on the go. He is a mem-
ber of the Clinton Optimist
Club, is involved in his church
and has a farm near Blyth
where he lives.
On his farm, he rents out
the land for crops, and any
money made by the property
goes to the Canadian Food
Grains Bank.
The new face on Clinton's
medical team is Kyle Arm-
strong. Armstrong has
worked in emergency near
London for the last couple
years after attending med
school at Western. He will be
living just north of London
and commuting to Clinton.
Armstrong started a cou-
ple weeks ago, and so far
said that things are going
"good. I grew up in a small
town, so I love working in a
small town:' Armstrong grew
up in a town near Sault Ste.
Marie.
"Clinton's a large town
compared to where I grew
up," Armstrong chuckled.
Many people came out to
wish well an influential face
in the community and usher
in someone new.
