Assembly is underway for frisbee golf course in Clinton Justine Alkema Clinton News Record If you drive by the Lion's Park in Clinton in the next few weeks, you might be able to see Lion's Club members setting up the park's new frisbee golf course. The club will likely have the course set up and ready for players by mid-October, and if not, they will definitely have it going by spring 2017. They were able to hire a local welder to build the holes, which consists of a pole, basket and chains. The course will have nine "holes"; the shortest hole will be 155 feet and the longest will be 375 feet. The 375 foot hole will have a par of four while all the J%I,I l,%C,%!, Jjl,19,lff % 4F Ze Twee& *tte,t a7a. 1,0610:44 are 74e4e Aea e‘rdted: Clinton United Church 105 Ontario Street 519-482-9553 I www.clintonunited.ca Ministry Team Word and Sacrament: Rev. Lion's Club member Robert Brown said it is possible to play the game with a regular frisbee, if anyone wishes to try the course out without spe- cific frisbee golf discs. How- ever the proper equipment consists of three frisbees - a putter, mid-range, and long range disc. The discs aren't expensive and can be bought on ama- zon.ca\sports, ultimatedis- cgolfstore.ca and discgolfs- tore.com. For Clinton's course, a putter and mid- range would suffice, though having a long range disc is helpful. For those who want to try the course in an organized event, the Lion's Club is plan- ning on hosting a grand open- ing tournament in the spring, like near the end of May or beginning of June. This event will cost $45 per person, and with that fee, each player will receive a set of three discs, a bag, towel and other paraphernalia. They will also likely have prizes and a food truck for each player to receive a free lunch. On any day, the course can be used by donation; there will be a donation box on the course. Brown said when he goes to a nine hole course, he usually gives around two dol- lars, as a reference amount. "$50 for a year member- ships will also be available," said Brown. "People can get those from the Lion's Club." Businesses can sponsor holes and have their name on the equipment, and there is also still advertising space left on the course for any busi- nesses that are interested.
