117 runners came out on September
4 to the Run4Kids to support Memphis,
a boy from southwestern Ontario who
has cystic fibrosis. Memphis wished
through the Make a Wish Foundation to
meet his favourite YouTube star, and
these runners came out to make that
happen.
The event was put on by Virtual High
School in Bayfield. They started the five
kilometer run four years ago to raise
money for one of their students who
had brain cancer, and they have contin-
ued the event ever since.
"We like the idea of getting the com-
munity together to giving back to some-
one in need," said Emily Santos, the
school's assistant records administrator.
She also noted that it is a great way to
bring people to Bayfield as people
came from all over Huron County and
as far as London, Toronto and Barrie.
Local stores participated too; some
gave discounts that day and donated
some of their profits to the cause. There
were face painting and other activities
that day as well.
The ended up raising around $6800
to support Memphis's wish.
117 runners ran five kilometers on September 4 for the cause.
