Potential name change for "Clinton and Central Huron BIA"
Group considers shortening name
to just "Central Huron BIA"

The Clinton and Central
Huron BIA and Central
Huron council has been
thinking and talking a lot
about the branding of the
municipality. That conversa-
tion is continuing and from
it created a new conversa-
tion - whether or not to
change the BIAs name from
Clinton and Central Huron
BIA to just Central Huron
BIA.
The branding conversa-
tion started from a Commu-
nity Improvement Plan cre-
ated last year by an outside
organization the municipal-
ity hired. This report brought
forward a number of
improvement ideas for the
municipality, including a
new slogan.
The municipality and BIA
have taken bits and pieces of
that plan and are modifying
them to create actionable
improvements.
"The BIA is looking at
that and thinking, is it time
for us to do something to
make a change in terms of
our brands?" said BIA co-
chair Tricia Robinson. "We
asked, who do we want to
target; how do we want to
do that?"
They began thinking of
their logo, which has a
heart on it, referring to "the
Heart of Huron". The
rebranding committee
formed which consists of
members of the BIA as well
as members of council.
Now, the BIA is consider-
ing their name itself.
At this point, it is simply
a point for discussion. It is
by no means a sure thing,
and they are expecting
there to be a lot of conver-
sation about the topic.
They are inviting all of
their members to attend
their meeting on Novem-
ber 8; members of the pub-
lic are always welcome at
meetings as well.
On their website recently,
they wrote the following:
"As the Co -Chairs, Tricia
and [Michael] would like to
put forward this name
change. This is a topic that
will create lengthy discus-
sion. We encourage you to
come to our next BIA meet-
ing (November 8th) with any
questions, concerns and
comments you may have. If
you cannot attend this meet-
ing we are accepting emails

with your thoughts or a sim-
ple yes or no answer. A date
and time for a proper vote
will be discussed at this
meeting."

There are several benefits
of the name change. First of
all, the name is less of a
mouthful. Also, it is more
inclusive for the surrounding
hamlets including Londes-
borough, Auburn and
Holmesville.

"We want [people in the
hamlets] to participate and
be part of the BIA," said
Robinson. "Michael and I
want to focus and put
emphasis on that we are
Central Huron, not just
Clinton"
