Clinton News Record
On Tuesday, November
15, many people passing
through Clinton on high-
ways 4 and 8 was stopped for
a very special RIDE program.
This program was put on by
M.A.D.D. Huron/South
Bruce.
This annual event was to
kick off their red ribbon
campaign which is run
through the holiday season
by M.A.D.D. groups across
Canada. Not only did this
event signify ribbon boxes
going into stores, but every
driver stopped received a
ribbon as well.
The ribbons signify are
awareness to M.A.D.D.'s
cause which is "to end drunk
driving, help fight drugged
driving, support the victims
of these violent crimes and
prevent underage drinking."
Ribbons can be displayed on
cars or elsewhere.
Several stores in Clinton
will have ribbons available in
the next few weeks for a
donation.
Over 200 people were
stopped in just over an hour
in Clinton for the RIDE and
told about M.A.D.D.
In the past, this event,
which has run for around 25
years in this area, has taken
place in Wingham, Luc -
know, Kincardine and Exe-
ter. While this even has hap-
pened in Clinton before, this
is the first time it has hap-
pened only in Clinton with-
out being held in conjunc-
tion with another place.
All the money raised by
the event goes back to the
local M.A.D.D. group to go to
awareness campaigns such
as advertising, school pro-
grams and more.
