Clinton resident Emily Plum -
steel and her Team Canada
dance team is back from the
International World Ballet, Jazz
and Modern Dance Champi-
onships. They spend 10 days at
the event in Wetzlar, Germany
from October 21-31.
Plumsteel and her team of
eight others from Danceology
in Lucknow are now the proud
owners of many medals and
trophies.
Plumsteel's accomplish-
ments include achieving gold
with her large jazz group, gold
with her large ballet group and
silver with her small ballet
group with six people. Plum -
steel also danced in two mod-
em dance groups though they
didn't place.
The Lucknow Sentential
reported Canada's success say-
ing "Team Canada rounded up
57 medals in total, with 24 gold,
17 silver, 16 bronze to their
credit. The closest placing
teams were Slovenia (second
with 14 medals), as well as Ser-
bia and Italy (both tied for third
with nine medals each)"
Overall, there were 27 coun-
tries present, which was a les-
son for Plumsteel and her team
in meeting kids from other cul-
tures and interacting with them
despite the language barrier.
Members from the various
teams traded small gifts and
tokens with each other. They
gave out pins, bracelets, pens,
sunglasses and more.
Plumsteel described the
massive event as "shocking" as
she had never experience any-
thing to that scale; however she
had an amazing time and
would love to go again.
The event "was a big leaming
experience [for Emily]'; said
Allison.
Emily, who is 10 years -old
and attends St. Joe's, said her
teachers were understanding
about her taking time off
school to attend the event.
"She did some learning
about the world," said her
mom.
The Plumsteels were able to
travel a bit while they were
there as they hopped on a
train to Paris for a few days of
their trip.
For the near future, Plum -
steel is back dancing in Luc -
know focusing on contempo-
rary dance, however she is
also still doing a variety of
genres. When asked if she had
a favourite, she said, "That's
hard. I like all of them."

Bayfield has bode well on the
internet recently with their title of
the "third friendliest town in Can-
ada" on expedia.ca. This title was
given based on 2015 verified user
reviews.
Bluewater Mayor Tyler Hessel
recently commented on the des-
ignation saying he believes Bay -
field's strength is, "Bayfield's her-
itage nature and community
involvement."
Hessel commented that people
care about and are invested in their
community.
"Bayfield has such a strong volun-
teer base that makes things happen,"
he said. He commented that it's
important to have momentum com-
ing from the community to create
projects, hold events and "celebrate
it all':
"I think the big thing is its heritage
main street [...] [We have] that herit-
age block right in the main street
and core, and we're fortunate to
have had it for so long. All the
business and store owners are so
involved with keeping that look and
creating a welcoming environment."
The friendliest town was given to
Carp, Ontario in the greater Ottawa
area with second place going to
North Hatley in Quebec which is an
hour and a half east of Montreal.
Under the description for Bay-
field, it reads, "Bobbing boats,
charming boutiques, and ringing
bicycle bells make it easy to think
you're in some kind of fairytale
when you're walking through
Bayfield."
