GOODBYE DRIVING
PRIVILEGES
(CENTRAL HURON, ON) — A
27 -year-old male driver from
Cambridge is facing several
charges following a dangerous
driving incident that took place
last week.
At approximately 4:07 a.m.
on October 26, 2016 a Huron
County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officer spotted a
Ford Super Duty truck speed-
ing through the Village of Bay-
field at very high rate of speed.
The officer was able to meas-
ure the speed of the truck with
a RADAR device and the speed
was measured to be in excess
of 145 km/h. A dangerously
fast speed considering the truck
was pulling a trailer loaded with
golf carts and the speed limit
through Bayfield is 60 km/h.
The officer began to follow after
the vehicle and watched as the
driver continued to drive in the
oncoming lane for several kilo-
meters. The officer attempted
to stop the vehicle, however the
driver continued northbound
toward Goderich. As the vehicle
approached the south of end of
Goderich two other police vehi-
cles were utilized and the driver
finally pulled over just before he
entered Goderich.
The driver was placed under
arrest for Dangerous Driving
and while speaking with the
driver the investigating officer
noted the driver had been drink-
ing alcohol and was display-
ing signs that he was impaired
by alcohol. Hence the driver
was also placed under arrest for
Impaired Driving. He was then
transported to the Huron OPP
Detachment for breath tests. He
subsequently provided two sam-
ples of his breath to a qualified
IntoxilizerTechnician and both of

his samples registered over the
legal limit.
As a result, 27 -year-old Brayden
HOOPER from Cambridge has
been charged with Impaired
Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle —
Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol,
Dangerous Driving and Perform
Stunt — Speeding by 50 km/h
or more. He was later released
from custody with a court date
scheduled for December 5,
2016 at the Ontario Court of
Justice — Goderich. He received
an automatic 90 -day driver's
licence suspension, an addi-
tional seven day driver's licence
suspension and his vehicle has
been impounded for seven days.
RACING
CHARGE LAID
(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-
WAWANOSH, ON) — A young
driver from Ripley has been
charged with Racing following
a traffic stop that took place on
October 24, 2016. Just before
1:00 p.m. a Huron County
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)
officer spotted a Toyota Tun-
dra pickup truck traveling east-
bound on Amberley Road west
of Lucknow at a high rate of
speed. The officer confirmed his
visual observations of the rac-
ing vehicle with a RADAR device
and confirmed the speed of the
truck to be travelling at a speed
in excess of 140 km/h in the
posted 80 km/h zone. A traffic
stop was initiated and the driver
was subsequently charged.

Valerie ELCHUK, 22 years of age,
from Ripley has been charged
with "Race a Motor Vehicle".
She has a court appearance
scheduled for December 6, 2016
at Provincial Offences Act Court
in Goderich. Her driver's license
is suspended for seven days and
her company vehicle has been
impounded for the week.

CRASH WEST OF
MOLESWORTH
Driver Remains in Hospital
With Serious Injuries
(HURON EAST, ON) - The driver
involved in a single motor vehi-
cle collision that took place on
October 26 west of Molesworth
remains in hospital with serious
but stable injuries. Initially his
injuries were believed to be life-
threatening however his injuries
are no longer considered to be
life-threatening.
Shortly before 8:00 a.m. Huron
County Ontario Provincial Police
(OPP), Perth County Paramedic
Services and Grey Township
Fire Department personnel
responded to the collision scene
located on Jamestown Road just
east of Adams Line.
Investigators have since deter-
mined the driver was travel-
ling eastbound on Jamestown
Road when he began to fishtail
on the gravel road surface. He
lost control of his vehicle and
his Subaru Outback slammed
into a tree on the south side of
the road. The driver was able to
escape from his vehicle before it
caught on fire.
The lone occupant, has been
identified as Jacob COLLISON,
20 years of age from Wingham.
