Home for the Holidays event back in Clinton
Justine Alkema
and Jefferson House
Clinton News Record
The biannual Home for
the Holidays event is back.
This event put on by the
Clinton Lions Club is always
a hit; this year, 600 tickets are
up for grabs for individuals
who wish to see five loca-
tions around town decked
out in festive decorations.
The big weekend is Friday,
November 18 from 6-9 and
Saturday, November 19 from
12-4.
Tickets are $20 each and are
available at the Backyard
Flower Shop, Per-Fect
Designs, Groves T.V. and
Appliance Centre, Nature's
Nest in Londesborough or
from Lions Club tour coordi-
nator Jane Groves who can be
contacted at 482-3848. A ticket
provides access to all five loca-
tions as well as refreshments
at the Clinton Legion and a
chance to win a door prize,
sparkling diamond jewelry.
Local businesses are assist-
ing each homeowner and the
legion to create their houses
into a winter wonderland.
Those businesses are NJS
Designs, the Backyard Flower
Shop, Per-Fect Designs,
Nature's Nest and Interior
Trends.
Each of the locations is
described below in more
detail.
The Clinton Legion -
95 Kirk Street
The Clinton Legion will be
totally transformed to give a
Winter Wonderland feeling
with crystal trees, lanterns and
silver sequins being just a few
pieces in the display by NJS
Design. Percy from Per-Fect
Designs is adding her artistic
touches to the tables to com-
plete the feeling.
Enjoy coffee, juice and cake
in this festive setting.
Also do not forget to drop
your ballot here for your
chance to win the sparkling
diamond jewellery set.
Dr. Peter Salsbury and Kim
Tessier - 265 High Street
After witnessing the suc-
cessful event themselves, Kim
Tessier and Peter Salsbury
decided to join in on Home
for Holiday. A feeling of awe
and appreciation is what Tess-
ier and Salsbury are attempt-
ing to achieve for those who
will be experiencing their
home as apart of the tour.
Salsbury describes their
decorations as "Victorian Era"
which compliments the age of
the home itself. The house is
an old historic estate, built in
the late 1800s, which takes up
roughly three town blocks of
space. It has been updated
and restored many times, but
the feel of the estate is brought
back with the holiday
decorations.
Salsbury experiences satis-
faction from opening his
home for tours. He is also very
grateful for the help from The
Backyard Flower Shop and
Interior Trends for giving the
home a Christmas flare.
Lloyd and Teresa Jantzi -
39956 Dinsley Terrace
With the help of the Back-
yard Flower Shop, Teresa and
Lloyd Jantzi are bringing a
twist to the Christmas spirit
this year. They plan on having
multiple themes throughout
the house, including a

modern look, some country
aspects and unique colour
palettes to make the home's
interior stand out.
This will be the first year
that the Jantzis take part in the
Home for Holiday house
tours. Visitors can expect to
see floral arrangements from
the Backyard Flower Shop
along with the Jantzi's own
decorations filling the home
and property. The house itself
will be decorated as a modem
holiday home with the
upstairs showing off a metallic
colour palette. By the river-
bank located on the property,
a country-esque design will
be incorporated as well.
Teresa volunteers at the
Backyard Flower Shop and
knew the talent the shop pos-
sessed in order to make the
floral pieces even more
ravishing.
John and Mary -Ann Neutel -
45 George Street
The Neutels have a gor-
geous home on George Street
that they built themselves that
is less than two years old. This
November, the new space will
be transformed.
This is their first year partic-
ipating in the event. Even
while they were building their
house, Groves pointed out to
them that their house would
be perfect for the Home for
the Holidays event.
With the help of Per-Fect
Designs and Mary -Anne's sis-
ter-in-law and friend, their
house will feature trees, lights,
flowers and a special feature -
a row of 23 hanging Christmas
stockings. Mary -Ann has col-
lected all kinds of decorations
over the years, and with the
addition of her friends' deco-
rations, the house will be
packed with holiday cheer.
Nature's Nest will be help-
ing the Neutels beautify the
exterior of their home.
