As spring fair ramps up for another year with some new activities, they
struggle to find contestants for ambassador competition and talent hunt

The Clinton Spring fair
committee has all kinds of
events, both new and old,
prepared for this year's
fair.
Some activities will be
classic fair events, including
the always popular demoli-
tion derby and horse and
poultry shows. A couple
new events include a teddy
bear picnic with a surprise
guest and a goat show. They
are also bringing back the
baby show, which was not
at the fair last year.
As always, the mission of
the fair is to create an enjoy-
able community event for
all ages and provide agricul-
ture education.
Although the committee
tries to have a variety of
events to draw all ages, this
year they are especially try-
ing to provide activities for
the youth. For this reason,
they have Much Music
coming in Saturday evening
to host a dance. This event
is for ages 13-16, the cost is
$10, and it is running from
7-11. They have a host of
other youth events planned
for Saturday afternoon as
well.
However organizers are

struggling in a couple
areas, namely in finding
contestants for the ambas-
sador competition and tal-
ent hunt.
The ambassador com-
petition, which has been
popular in years past, has
very few applicants for
both the junior and senior
divisions. However, it is
not quite too late to sign
up as applications will be
accepted until Thursday,
May 26.
To apply, contestants
must do an interview, give a
short speech and answer
three impromptu ques-
tions. There are 3 judges,
and the winner will be
announced that night. That
night is the 28th of May at
the Libro Auditorium at
Central Huron Complex at
7:00 p.m. Beef on a bun will
be serviced from 5:00 -5:30
for a fee.
There is a $500 bursary
for the senior ambassador
winner, and all contestants
will receive prizes.
For more information or
to sign up, contact Marg
Miller at 519-525-7641.
Another competition that
is really struggling is the
annual Talent Hunt. This
show is for performers,
which can be anything from
musicians and bands to
jugglers, acrobats and
standup comedians.
This event is on Saturday
at 2:00 p.m. The time limit is
five minutes, and a CD, cas-
sette player, piano and
microphones are provided.
However bands must pro-
vide their own drums,
instruments, and amps.
There are three divi-
sions, ages 12 and under,
13-18 and open or all ages.
The last day to sign up is
June 1.
The prize money for each
devision is $50 for first
place, $30 for second place
and $20 for third place.
