Radars celebrate championship season Joe Livermore On Saturday, April 23, the Clinton Radar's senior "AA" hockey club put the final touches on an unbelievable season by celebrating their championship at the Fish and Game Club. Officials, executives, players and fami- lies gathered together and enjoyed a banquet supper put on by Pineridge Bar- beque Catering service. The day started when the players met at the East Link Arena. Here the players were sized for their championship rings. Next, they assembled together for a team picture. After that, the players auto- graphed several t -shirts which will be sold during next year's hockey season. Everyone traveled over to the Fish and Game Club where they enjoyed deli- cious chicken and sparerib. After the meal came the yearly trophy presentation. Coaches Jim Fritzley and Merlin Malinowski led the presentation ceremony. They spoke of the team hav- ing an excellent season and Joey's Corner Joe Livermore how each player worked their hearts out to bring the first championship to the town of Clinton. Fritzley also thanked the executive for doing such a great job. Fritzley addressed the excellent work of his assis- tants, mainly manager Nathan Burns, trainers Matt Hart, Mike Stillwell and his equipment teams consisting of Wayne Dunsmore and his son Adrian Dunsmore. Also, Jim expressed the loyalty of the Radar fans who have fol- lowed the team faithfully whether they were home or away. "They are the best!" he said. Lastly, Fritzley thanked the sponsors for their con- tinued support each year. She wrote several musical hits but one has stood the test of time. This song is "Happy Trails [to You]': It is associated with the couple's television and radio programs as it always played at the end of each show. Remembered for her quick smile and optimistic outlook, Dale did not have an easy life. She felt the trails she rode through had deep valleys and rough weather. However her spiritual faith helped her move forward and share her faith with others. "Happy Trails" was and is an optimistic anthem of hope. Reverends Terry and Mary Fletcher participated in a pulpit switch with their respective churches on Sunday, May 15. The Sacrament of Holy Com- munion will be observed at Londesborough United on Sunday, May 22. Then on May 29, Sunday school will lead the service as their promotion and award Sunday. That Sunday, Rev. Terry will be attending a Conference in London. The next official board meet- ing will be Tuesday, June 7 beginning at 7:30 p.m. HULLETT CENTRAL PUBLIC SCHOOL OPERETTA The energy and enthusiasm were almost palpable in the Blyth Memorial Hall on Wednesday evening, May 11. Grades 4 through 8 from Hullett Central Public School were using the venue to present the operetta, "Clowns': Colourful, energetic, fun and entertaining are some of the adjectives that come to mind when talking about the oper- etta. Not one of the participants onstage seemed overwhelmed by the size of the stage, the large audience or the strong lights. If there was a slip up no one in the crowd of parents and grandpar- ents noticed, and every child was enjoying the experience. The large cast on stage was backed up admirably by the remainder of the pupils singing along in the chorus numbers or playing kazoos from the gallery.
