This position will report directly to the Manager of Public Works and will oversee the day-to-day work activities of the roads employees. The incumbent will administer and participate in a variety of construction, maintenance and repair services to the roads, municipal drains, landfill sites, and other municipal infrastructure. The operation of equipment and machinery will be also be necessary on a required basis. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: • Secondary school graduate and five (5) years' experience in construction or municipal road works, including supervisory or lead hand experience. • Has or is working towards Certified Road Supervisor designation. • Ability to operate and maintain a variety of heavy and medium equipment, vehicles and machinery used in operations and maintenance functions. • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Confined Space Entry. • Good communication and public relations skills in order to deal tactfully with the public. • Must hold a minimum DZ driver's license. Beloved husband to Debra (Harris) Shipp. Adoring dad to Rob (Karen) Mason, James Mason, Crystal Gridzak and J.J. Gristey. Lovingly missed by many grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also survived by eight siblings and their families. Bill loved to play golf and enjoyed reading. Cremation has taken place.
