The game in Palmerston on Friday night was a chippy affair as Clinton took 38 min- utes in penalties to Minto's 36 minutes. Both goalies made several key saves as Radar goalie Marc Nother and Palmeston's Jason Hamilton kept the score close. The Radars outshot Minto by a close margin 38 to 32. Clinton took the lead in the first period as Ryan Murphy scored a powerplay goal at 9:50. Deryk Whitehead gave Murphy a perfect pass to set up the goal. Palmerston tied the game at 1-1 when Zack Graham beat Nothers from close in. In the second stanza Radars' Kurtis Bartliff gave Joey's Corner Joe Livermore Clinton a 2-1 lead at 0:46, but two minutes later Palmerston tied it at 2-2 as Andrew Coburn dented the twine behind Nother. With a steady parade to the penalty box and the action and the speed of the game picking up at the 10:40 mark, Mitch Vander- gunst gave Clinton a 3-2 lead as Reid Oliver and Mike Jar- muth did the side work on the goal. Before the second period had ended, Minton had tied the game at 3-3 on a goal by Tyson LeBlanc. In the third period, with both teams looking to take the first game of the series to the win column, it was Clinton who did the damage. Luke Vick and Sean Consitt secured the victory for the Radars. First, it was Luke Vick at 15:07 on a beautiful setup from Stefan Salituro for a one timer and then it was Sean Consitt on a slapper after Ryan Murphy and Deryk Whitehead had glorious chances to bang it home. The game got a little more chippy as the clock wound down. Back in Clinton on Satur- day night, the two teams played a smarter hockey game as both teams played it cautiously in trying to stay out of the dreaded penalty box, knowing that each team has a good powerplay. The teams bear that out as they both lead their division in scoring powerplay goals. Once again Nothers of the Radars and Hamilton of Minto played strong games in goal. Except for a fight at the end of the third period, Clinton took only 10 minutes in penalties to Minto's 8 minutes. It didn't take Min- ton long to tie the game at 1-1 as Brock Zinken scored at 5:29 on a similar scramble that the Radars had scored.
