Conservation Dinner Committee presents
$200 in gift cards from MacEwen
Petroleum to Early Bird Prize Draw winner
Exeter's Elsie Hermann
wins four $50 gift cards
for gas or C -Store
Special to Clinton News Record
The Conservation Dinner Com-
mittee has drawn the Early Bird Prize
winner from among tickets pur-
chased early for the gala charitable
auction. Exeter's Elsie Hermann, a
long-time supporter of the fund-
raiser, is the winner. Event organizers
presented her with a prize worth
$200, courtesy of MacEwen Petro-
leum Inc.
This charitable dinner and auction
supports projects by the community
and for the community, such as
accessible trails, parks and conserva-
tion areas, commemorative woods,
and nature education and recreation
opportunities. The charity event was
started in 1990 and the Exeter Lions
Club joined as co-partner in 1991.
The net profits are split 50-50
between community conservation
projects of the Ausable Bayfield Con-
servation Foundation and the Exeter
Lions Club.
On behalf of the Conservation
Dinner Committee, Brian Horner,
General Manager and Secretary -
Treasurer of Ausable Bayfield Con-
servation, presented Elsie with her
prize of four $50 gift cards which she
may use for gas or C -Store merchan-
dise. Conservation Dinner Chairman
Paul Anstett thanked MacEwen
Petroleum for their donation of the
2016 Early Bird Prize.
Generous donations by businesses
and people in the community have
helped this charitable event to get
ready this year to surpass the $1 mil-
lion mark in net proceeds raised over
the 27 -year history of the fundraiser.
The Conservation Dinner has received
more amazing donations for this year's
fundraiser, in addition to auction items
announced previously. One of the
most exciting and coveted new auction
items just announced is a generous
`Groceries for a Year' donation cour-
tesy of Hansen's Your Independent
Grocer. Other newly -announced auc-
tion items include a play -and -stay
Toronto theatre package from Ellison
Travel and Tours; jerseys autographed
by hockey greats such as Paul Hender-
son (Team Canada) and Carey Price
(Montreal Canadiens); an auto-
graphed Toronto Maple Leafs hockey
stick; the sign from Exeter Public
School; two club -seat tickets for Carrie
Underwood; a wood sculpture by Fred
Negrijn (Rose -Breasted Grosbeak Pair
on Apple Blossom Branch); and more.

Volunteers and Board Members Collectively Donate
$216,000 to Our Hospital, Our Future Campaign
Special to
Clinton News Record
The campaign volunteers
and the members of the
Wingham & District Hospital
Foundation Board have col-
lectively pledged $216,000 to
the "Our Hospital, Our
Future" campaign. These per-
sonal gifts have been essen-
tial to helping the campaign
reach 42% of the fundraising
goal to date.
The WDH Foundation
Board was the first group of
people to believe that it was
possible for the community to
come together to raise $4 mil-
lion to support the major
redevelopment of the Hospi-
tal. The campaign manage-
ment team is the group of vol-
unteers who has been
working throughout our com-
munity to secure donations
totaling $1.7 million so far.
This group of volunteers has
been generous with their
time, which they have spent
working to ensure the best
healthcare is available to eve-
ryone in our communities,
that they have been equally
generous with their personal
donations to the campaign is
gratifying.
Any members of the com-
munity considering making
their own donation to
the "Our Hospital, Our
Future" campaign can rest
assured that all the people
leading this initiative

are confident enough in the
project to take action them-
selves. To further demon-
strate how important the
Wingham & District Hospital
and the "Our Hospital, Our
Future" project is these deter-
mined volunteers have
recorded short videos sharing
what the Hospital means to
them. Follow the Wingham

on Facebook or visit www.

videos as they appear over
the coming weeks.
These volunteers will con-
tinue their work seeking
donations in the community.
All funds raised will support
the expansion of six Hospital
departments, replacement of
digital imaging equipment and
the creation of a primary care
health campus unique to rural
healthcare. The entire commu-
nity also has the opportunity to
be part of the "Our Hospital,
Our Future" campaign by
pledging a donation during the
CKNX Healthcare Heroes
Radiothon on May 12. All
donations to the Wingham &
District Hospital Foundation
made that day will go towards
the major redevelopment.
