John Grace and Wendy Dell -Grace support

Clinton News Record
Fanshawe College is
pleased to announce a sig-
nificant contribution from
John Grace and Wendy Dell -
Grace in support of the Col-
lege's new location in down-
town Goderich. Scheduled
to officially open on March
30, the site at 33 St. David
Street in the 'Kingston Block'
will provide Fanshawe the
opportunity to offer post-
secondary programming in
the community, including a
two-year Business - Entre-
preneurship and Manage-
ment diploma program.
When the opportunity
arose to have Fanshawe
come to Goderich, John
Grace became involved
immediately, providing
essential support to coordi-
nate the effort. "My interest
in the development of a Fan-
shawe College site initially
came from a passion for eco-
nomic development," he
stated. "When the focus
turned to business program-
ming, my interest was really
peaked. Our economy is
dependent on the growth of
small business and young
entrepreneurs and what bet-
ter way to foster this poten-
tial than to offer college pro-
gramming in rural Ontario."
Wendy Dell -Grace was
moved by the commitment
of her husband to the pro-
ject. When the discussion
turned to the possibility of
making a financial contribu-
tion to Fanshawe, she
reflected on her own family
history.
Stratford -Bruce Peninsula region
unemployment rate drops
Special to Clinton News Record
Unlike the provincial
unemployment rate which
rose 0.2% from 6.4% to 6.6% in
February, the Stratford -Bruce
Peninsula region saw a 0.1%
drop from 5.7% to 5.6%.
Local employment saw a
net gain of 500 jobs in both
full-time (+100) and part-time
(+400) between January and
February 2016. Although
unemployment also saw a net
increase (+100), the upward
trend of full-time employment
since November 2015 is an
encouraging sign.
Employment in the Goods -
producing sector declined in
February, with losses
primarily in the construction
(-600) and manufacturing
(-1,600) industries. Mean-
while, forestry, fishing, min-
ing, quarrying, oil and gas saw
an increase (+500) of
positions.
Employment in the Ser-
vices -producing Sector
increased, with the highest
gains (+1,200 equally) in edu-
cational services and health
care and social assistance.
Young people looking for
summer employment locally
can access job opportunities
in natural resource manage-
ment. More than 2,000 oppor-
tunities are available through-
out the province in programs
like: Stewardship Youth
Ranger, Summer Employ-
ment, Aboriginal Youth Work
Exchange, First Nations Natu-
ral Resources Youth Employ-
ment and Ministry of Natural
Resources and Forestry
Internships.
Over 400 employers in
Bruce, Grey, Huron and Perth
counties participated in the
annual Four County Labour
Market Planning Board's
EmployerOne Survey. A sum-
mary of the results will be
released shortly.
Following labour market
events is key to helping job
seekers understand where the
opportunities (short, medium,
long term) might be in local
communities.

ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of
or in opposition to the proposed CIP. If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public
meeting or make written submissions to the Clerk of the Corporation of the Municipality of Bluewater at the
address below before the proposed CIP is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the
decision of the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Bluewater to the Ontario Municipal Board, and
may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Municipal Board unless, in the
opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
IF YOU WISH TO BE NOTIFIED of the adoption of the proposed CIP, or the refusal to adopt the CIP, you must
make a written request to the Clerk of the Municipality of Bluewater at the address below and such request must
include the name and address to which such notice should be sent.
