There were 176 skaters in the
Clinton Skaters Club this year with
some as young as two and a half
years old.
The Junior, Intermediate and
Senior competitive skaters partici-
pated in numerous competitions
with the most recent being Futures,
held in Ayr on March 5 and 6. For
most of the Junior skaters, this was
their first time competing.
Bessie MacDonald went on to
compete at the Western Ontario
Section STARSkate Championships
in Sarnia, which is the competition
where skaters can qualify to go to
provincials.
Leanne MacDonald, President of
the Clinton Skating Club, reported
that the number of registrations has
grown considerably this year. She is
excited to reveal, "There are lots of
new faces." Some are new to the
competitive skating, but an added
women's program has brought in
many members.
The ladies of the Clinton Skating Club new Bootcamp on Blades program took time for a group photo.
The new program is a ladies only
Bootcamp on Blades. MacDonald
explains, "The program involves a
combination of hockey power skat-
ing skills and figure skating stroking
skills and received good reviews
from the participants. Two coaches
worked on the ice with groups of 25
ladies:'
The awards banquet will be held
April 6 at 6:30 p.m.
Registration for the 2016-2017
Leanne MacDonald
season will take place in late sum-
mer/early fall. Anyone interested in
any of Clinton Skating Club pro-
grams can visit the website at www.
