St. Anne's Eagles compete in
senior boys WOSSAA hockey

On Monday, February 29, the senior
boys hockey team from St. Anne;s com-
peted at WOSSAA in London.
In the first game they were matched up
against the returning last two years'
WOSSAA and OFSAA champions, Lon-
don South Collegiate Institute. St. Anne's
played a great game but SCI clinched the
win with a late game empty and a score of
5-2.
That loss put St. Anne's in the bronze
medal game Monday afternoon against
Glendale High School from Tillson-
burg. The St. Anne's players found the
back of the net quite easily in the first and
early into the second period and were
leading with a score of 5 -1. However,
after a hit from behind and a big scrap on
the ice, the Gemini from Glendale
ramped up their game while the Eagles
fell flat. Near the end of the third, the
game was tied at 5 apiece sending the
game into overtime. Early into OT, the St.
Anne's Eagles found the back of the net
once again and earned a bronze medal.
The gold medal game was a tight battle
between SCI and St. Thomas Aqui-
nas. The Flames from St. Thomas upset
defending South Collegiate and won
WOSSAA gold. They move on to Ottawa
to compete at OFSAA.
