Valentine's Day

Clinton News Record
The winter of 2015-16 has
been a tricky one for travel
on many occasions. Unlike
most Huron County winters
where snow comes, piles
up, has a January thaw to
take down some of the
banks, then continues on
with more snow, this winter
has seen a roller coaster of
winter blasts followed by
spring-like thaws through-
out, each type of weather
seeming to average a stay of
approximately a week.
The winter seemed to
start off normally with an
early taste of heavy snow-
fall in November. Following
this, the El Nino current
began this ride by giving us
a green Christmas. It has
also resulted in very little
ice cover on the Great
Lakes, including Huron and
Erie, for the entire season.
The results are that each
time a strong, cold blast
crosses the lakes from
either direction there are
lake streamers of very
heavy, wet snow.
This is the type of system
that struck on Valentine's
Day 2016. Driving was very
tricky throughout the day
with some road closures
happening.
Unfortunately for one
driver making his way
through Clinton on Febru-
ary 14, the weather was not
the only misforture to
cause traffic tie-ups. The
tanker became unattached
from the tractor while the
truck was on Albert Street.
Richard Gordon of Huron
County Wildlife Photogra-
phy recorded the event
with his camera.
