Huron Christian School news for June
It must be close to the end
of the school year. Every
week, another class seems to
be away on a class trip. What
a great way to tie in hands on
learning with something
we're doing in class. Here's
where we've traveled this
spring:
-JK to Home Hardware in
Clinton to get supplies for
their unit on sound.
-SK to Hansen's grocery
store in Exeter as part of
their "Healthy Me" studies,
and then to a class member's
farm to introduce the "Ani-
mals on the Farm" unit.
-Grade 1/2 enjoyed a visit
to Wawanosh, to kick off
their exploration of the ani-
mal world.
-Grade 3 traveled to Lon-
don to visit Fanshawe Pio-
neer Village to wrap up their
unit on Pioneer Life.
-Grade 4 went to London
Children's Museum to par-
ticipate in activities related
to their social science
studies.
-Grade 5/6 enjoyed their
visit to the Ontario Science
Centre in Toronto.
-Grade 7/8 spent three full
days away on their Ottawa/
Montreal trip.
Our top finishers at our local
Track and Field meet traveled
to Strathroy in early June to
compete against the best from
six other Christian schools in
the District. While the team
didn't fare so well this year,
there were a lot of excellent
individual performances from
the Huron group.
Graduation at Huron
Christian School is a com-
munity event. The SK class
graduate to full time school,
and we celebrated with 16
students and their families.
In the evening we said good-
bye to 11 grade 8 students
who will be moving on to a
variety of different high
schools.
It's been a busy and event
filled year at Huron Christian
School, and it is quickly draw-
ing to a close. The big
announcement at the end of
this school year is that the
school board has voted in
favour of moving ahead with
phase two of our building
plan. This will involve renova-
tions and building on to the
existing school with the capi-
tal fundraising drive kicking
off in September of 2016.
As we wrap up this school
year, we are thankful for God's
faithful promises to each one
of us. We've experienced
safety on the roads for our five
buses as they traveled all over
Huron County picking up our
145 students.
We've experienced a great
year of exploring and discov-
ering new things about
God's creation. We've grown
physically, emotionally and
spiritually. We've developed
new relationships. We've
had opportunities to serve in
our school and in the Huron
County community.
This 54th year at Huron
Christian School has been a
blessing from God in so many
ways. We look forward to shar-
ing about our school when we
return in September.
