REACH and Fanshawe come to new three-year agreement

REACH and Fanshawe
College have taken new
steps in their relationship
to each other. The three-
year agreement they have
signed onto will expand
student support at REACH
to ultimately support Fan-
shawe's growth in the
region.
"Our new agreement is a
good foundation for the
growth of Fanshawe in the
region," said REACH general
manager Matt Lee.
Students with Fanshawe
in the region, for example
at locations in Goderich,
Kincardine or Stratford to
name a few, will get more
student services out of
REACH instead of all the
way in London. They are
making things closer to
home and easier for
students in this area. This
includes providing more
staff and resources such as
a new bookstore.
If residents have an inter-
est in Fanshawe, they can go
to REACH for information
and assistance, no matter
where they are interested in
attending Fanshawe in the
region. REACH is helping
students get more access to
what they need.
"When this place first
opened, it was really about
students attending REACH,"
said Lee. "Now our role with
Fanshawe is to help them
grow and identify where
communities need training
and to get that support to
them. Whether or not the
students participate in
classes necessarily at
REACH is not our number
one concern or number one
goal. It's about finding an
education solution for
them:'
Some of the programs
students can take in the area
are PSW programs, ECE,
health care office worker,
food service worker, busi-
ness, entrepreneurship and
management, general busi-
ness, human resources,
interest courses, trades and
more.
One big difference
between REACH and other
locations in Huron County
is they have the infrastruc-
ture to support these
changes.
"We saw the need for
student support needed to
grow up here," said Lee.
"We were fortunate to start
[with the student support]
and have the space to
develop it, but ultimately
REACH has an interest in
education in Huron
County not just Central
Huron."
