Find out as the Blyth Festival presents The Birds and the Bees, a hilarious, raucous, new com- edy with huge, honeyed, heart. Written by Mark Crawford (who gave us the 2014 season hit, Stag and Doe), and directed by Ann Hodges, The Birds and the Bees will have you rolling in the aisles from June 22 to August 6 in Blyth's Memorial Hall. It's nearly time for the last - ever annual Turkey Days Festi- val. The excitement in town is palpable, and Gail is on the committee. A retired empty - nester, Gail has been quietly raising bees in solitude, all alone, completely unaccompa- nied. Unexpectedly, her grown daughter Sarah returns home; it seems 20 years of artificially inseminating turkeys has taken a toll on Sarah's love life, and she and her husband are through. As both women set about put- ting their lives back in order, and International dance, Goderich's Courthouse Park will be transformed into a world stage for the 5th annual Huron Multicul- tural Festival on June 18 from 1-8 p.m. The theme for this year's free event is Asia and will feature a vari- ety of musicians and dancers repre- sentingthe cultures from this part of the world. The stage will feature Bollywood and Bhangra dance, Korean folk dance, Japanese drum and dance, and music of the Middle East, and more. "This is a great celebration of diversity in Huron County," said Rick Sickinger, cultural develop- ment officer with the Cultural Services Department. "The Multicultural Festival is a 1 1 1 1 reacquaint themselves with liv- ing under the same roof, they are visited by an eager, athletic, strapping, young grad student named Ben who has come to study the declining bee popula- tion, but things get, well, a little extra -curricular. Throw in a meddlesome neighbour, a little Internet dat- ing, and the last pair of tickets to the final Turkey Days Dance of all time, and you have a racy rec- ipe for relentless laughter. Starring in this hilarious com- edy and making her Blyth debut is veteran stage and TV star Nora McLellan as Gail. Beloved Blyth Festival actor Marion Day plays Sarah and John Dolan returns to the Blyth stage as Earl the neigh- bour. Young Christopher Allen makes his Blyth debut as the irresistible Ben. Playwright Mark Craw - ford's Stag and Doe has received seven other productions since its premiere at Blyth in 2014 making it one of the most -pro- duced new Canadian plays of the decade. Mark's second play, Bed and Breakfast, pre- miered in 2015 at the Thousand Islands Playhouse and will play at Montreal's Centaur Theatre next spring. Also in 2017, Carou- sel Players presents the world premiere of his play for young audiences: Boys, Girls, and Other Mythological Creatures.
