Every other year, hun-
dreds of supporters come
out the Clinton Hospital
Gala. For a town of only a
few thousand people, this is
a large portion of the popu-
lation. Clearly, this is an
important cause for local
residents.
The event will be held in the
Central Huron Community
Centre on June 11. This year's
theme is "Kentucky Derby,
and the arena is sure to be
decked out in this theme.
The night will feature many
different activities including a
silent auction with over 100
items, a live auction, a dinner,
live music and a dance. There
will be a bugler, a place to take
photos, and more.
The food will be catered by
Cardiff BBQ from Brussels,
and the live auction will be
auctioneered by local MP
Ben Lobb. Some of the items
include getaways and sports
packages as well as a num-
ber of other coveted items.
All of the items being auc-
tioned off were donated.
"This evening would not
be possible without the tre-
mendous support of our
community," emphasized
chairperson of the Clinton
Public Hospital Foundation
Board Janice Cosgrove.
The evening itself would
not be possible without the
community volunteers who
sit on hospital foundation
board and organized the
evening. Some of those vol-
unteers are business owners
or simply community mem-
bers who sit on the board to
give back to the community.
Attendees include Clinton
residents but also residents
from surrounding towns such
as Brussels and Bayfield, as
the hospital serves a wide
area. Some people come as
individuals, and some organi-
zations buy a table.
The gala is the hospital's
biggest fundraiser they have.
Other fundraisers they have
throughout the year include
participating the radiothon,
support from the Clinton
Raceway, the Kinsmen, and
the Lion's golf tournament.
"We get a lot of community
support from other groups,"
said Cosgrove.
Some tickets are still avail-
able. They are $75 each, and
can be purchased by calling
the foundation office at the
hospital.
