SEMPLE, Hilda Jean (nee Mayell) - It
is with great sadness that we announce the
passing of our Mother, Hilda Semple on
Monday January 4th, 2016, joining her
husband Robert John Semple (John)
(2003) in peace. Hilda had reached her
95th birthday this past March and enjoyed
her day with family and friends. She was
born in Nutfield, Surrey, England and there
met her husband John Semple, a dashing
young Irish Canadian, during WWII. Hilda
was part of the War Bride immigration in
1945 travelling to Canada by ship with her
young son Robert in tow. They moved to
the Bayfield area to raise their family and
learn the value of hard work through
farming. She will be missed by her six
children: Robert (Cathy) Semple, Marg
Angus, Barb (Chuck) Dalrymple, Pat (Paul)
Bencharski, Brian Semple and Bev (Ron)
Mollard. Dear grandma to 9 grandchildren,
7 great-grandchildren, and dear Aunt to
many nieces and nephews. Hilda is
survived by her sister-in-law Connie
Semple and her very dear friend Vic Finnie.
She is the last sibling of her family from
Britain. The family wishes to acknowledge
the wonderful staff at Huronview who were
so attentive to Mom's needs and made her
comfortable and safe during her last years.
We also want to thank Vic for being a big
part of Mom's life and her constant
companion to the end. A memorial service
celebrating Hilda's life was held at the
Clinton United Church, 105 Ontario Street,
Clinton on Saturday January 9, 2016 with a
visitation. As expressions of sympathy
memorial donations to Huronview Home,
Clinton Public Hospital Foundation, or the

appreciated. Funeral arrangements
