Even though they were missing the top 3 scorers in the league (Doig, Murphy, Vick) the Radars still mus- tered up a good offensive attack led by Stefan Sali- turo who recorded his first hat trick of the season. Deryk Whitehead chipped in with 2 goals and 1 assist while line mate Kurtis �] Joey's Corner Joe Livermore Bartliff set up 3 helpers. Others contributing to the outburst were Mitch Van- dergunst and Andrew Van - Vliet with 1 goal each. Tavistock opened the scoring at the 3:46 mark of the first stanza as Brendan Woods scored on Radar goalie Marc Nother from a wild scramble in front of the net. Tavistock's Zach Lorentz made it 2-0 at 7:47 when his slapshot found the upper right hand cor- ner from the top of the right hand circle. Before the period ended Radars first-year player, Mitch Vadergunst, made it 2-1 on a misplay in front of the net by a Royal defender. In the second period the Radars scored 3 unanswered goals to take a 4-2 lead into the second intermission. At 12:01 Ste- fan Salituro tied the game on a tap in at the crease on a setup from Brendan Dale. At 18:02 Deryk Whitehead gave Clinton a 3-2 lead on a backhand from the left side of the crease. Kurtis Bartliff and Jordan McClure had chances before Whitehead man- aged to backhand it in. Before the period had ended, Andrew VanVliet gave Clinton a 4-2 lead at 19:16 on a setup by Kyle Provily and Shayne McClure. The Radars came out fly- ing in the third period as they took total control of the contest. Stefan Solituro completed his hat trick by scoring 2 goals, one at 7:10 and the other at 9:17. In between Solituro's 2 goals Deryk Whitehead, on a clear cut breakaway from centre ice, drilled a puck by the Royals' goalie. Tavis- tock scored a late goal at 17:01 to make the final score 7-3. Marc Nother played another strong game in goal as he turned away 36 shots, while the Radars fired 33 shots at the opposing goalie. The Radars received 10 minutes in penalties while the Royals were whistled for 6 minutes. The Radars play in Mil- verton this Saturday night, January 9. Their next home is on Friday, January 15 a 8:30 p.m. This contest will be part of Minor Hockey Week- end. Hope to see you there.
